John Major was a good example of a decent man trying to do the right thing let down by a very tired and corrupt party. Blair wasn't fit to polish his shoes, frankly, but the Torys, at the time, weren't worth a light and the fresh faced, but unprincipled Blair capitalised on this!

Even Paddy Ashdown, leader of the lib dems, at the time said words to that effect.

Thatcher was the 2nd best PM this country had in the last century. Not saying everything she did was perfect, but the number of things she did right far outweighed the number of mistakes.

Plus she wound up hippie, yoghurt knitting, lentil munching Guardian readers which is nice.

She did do some good stuff however - so not totally knocking her.

I think that is a pretty good description of the facts with respect to Major and also the conservatives of that time.

I don't think it matters which party Clarkson supports. What he said was very close to the truth anyway.

I don't support any particular party, only the one I think would do the best for the country. What does influence me is the destruction of this country over the last ten years or so and where we can see it going at the moment. I am sorry to see what the "Chameleon" has said about the West Lothian question. That is purely an attempt at vote catching for no good reason if that is what he said.

I believe Maggie encouraged people to work hard and wanted to give them the rewards for that. She did not want a bunch of lazy wastes of oxygen sitting around waiting for social hand-outs - which is what Labour have encouraged.

I think its fair to say that many in this country want a right-wing, non-socialist, gently nationalist (in the "proud of being British" way, not the "I want to gas people" way!) Government now - which won't happen until people drop all this PC rubbish and call a spade a spade.

I think the Chameleon has shifted the Conservative Party in that direction without realising what we would prefer as Prasius said. Whatever you say about somewhat right wing politics, and I don't agree with far right policies myself, it would certainly be a lot better than what we have got now.

This is my opinion,

We British are a nation that love taking in other peoples culture. For example when we go abroad, what’s the first thing we do? Buy a stupid straw hat like the locals wear, try the local beer and wine. Pop out in the evening in our sandals and straw hat to try the local cuisine. And we have very much grown attached to these cultures as shows when walking down any high street in Britain, restaurants of all nationalities lined up for us to choose from.

So I think what we find hard to accept, is the people that come into Britain and are given the rights to live here but have no intention of taking part in the British way of life at all. They arrive in this country, don’t speak English, and have no intention of trying to learn this language. Have children through the NHS, don’t teach them English, as they expect the schools at age 5 to teach them. Hide away from the rest of the country behind restricting non-British religious vales and head scarves. The only British thing about these individuals is the documentation they have obtained with the words ‘British Citizen’.

They don’t want to be British, they are simply living here to have a better quality of life. Fair play though, life’s to short to have a **** one, but I would expect that if this country was up to their expectations, (and I would imagine it would, otherwise they would move back right?) then they could show some gratitude towards us and try to embrace us a little instead of making the barrier between us taller.

Now its not just them to blame, the government recognise this problem, but instead of trying to reach out to these individuals and telling them how great it is to be British and giving them opportunities to try it in their communities, they do the opposite, and try to make Britain more like them. Trying to give us the impression they are being British without them actually having to change a thing.

This is the ripple effect that is slowly destroying the British culture. The government wants them to fit in so much into our multi-ethnic and diverse community they are willing to change the British way of life to do so.
