I was there yesterday, the day started out wet + windy, but by lunchtime it had dried out.

I'm surprised you thought the circuit too narrow Mellow.. The considerably bulkier Skyline had no problems around it. I managed to get into 4th gear on the pitstraight and the straight approaching the hair pin (at about 115mph).

I agree about lack of run offs.. but at least it was grass and not gravel (it'd play hell with my carbon fibre undertrays).. I found "radar" was a good place to "give it some" without fear of hitting anyting, as was exiting the hairpin. At both complexes I managed some very lairy (but controlled) slides each lap.

Top stuff. I shall be going again !

(TypeR, all your track days are odd )

hehe, yeah, I have a few trackdays lined up But hey, there's no point owning cars like that if you're not going to use them.

Nah, not brave doing slides in the Skyline, I made sure they were in places with plenty of run-off should things go awry. The car feels very progressive when sliding, it FEELS very predictable.

The Exige is back with TurboTechnics being put back together.. Initially the Exige was the track car and the Skyline was the daily "runabout", but the Skyline seems more fun, so now I'm not so sure..

David them exige's are supposed to be awsome track cars?
Skyline "for daily run about!" what ya like
could be difficult descision that one, i bet the skyline would be good on fast sweeping circuits!
ive been in a elise and it did handle very well so the exige must be pretty good! what bhp are they? about 190bhp? pretty good power to weight ratio methinks!

hehe.. well as STANDARD, they're 177bhp.. which you can have upgraded to 190bhp easily.. but I went the whole hog and had it supercharged.. so it's now kicking out 272bhp.. which is about 340+bhp/tonne. Which is farkin fast, and it's got the downforce to corner on a sixpence.

Angry

I have to argue with Chris over his comments re Anglesey - it is possibly one of the best circuits in the UK. It is also one of the widest non F1 circuits in the UK, it has a huge amount of run off in all directions save the hairpin which has about 50 metres of run of. It also has a huge variation in gradient and a fantastic mix of corners. It has one of the fastest true corners in the UK and its complexes make you struggle to find more speed every time you visit. It may be only just over a mile long but it is one of the most technical circuits in the country. I have been there over 15 times in the last 3 years - and its a 700 mile round trip for me to get there - it is that good, everytime I go back I learn more about the circuit. Its not just suited to small cars, the Subaru can be hurled around that circuit quite nicely - it hasn't got huge long straights but I find little thrill in sitting in a straight line watching the speedo rise, its the corners that matter and they are some of the best in the business.

Couple all that with some of the best views of Snowdonia, a very friendly atmosphere and it being dirt cheap. You are missing out big time if you don't try Anglesey.

Dave........why the angry face mate....calm down....it was a comment IMHO....I've driven most circuits and have to sayAnglesey is probably one of the worst maintained and still maintain the lack of run offs etc....as for watching the speedo rise and looking for straights etc....go and take a chill pill

Cool

Angry because I don't agree with you, angry because you might put people off - and they will miss out on one of the best circuits in the UK, angry because you've fallen into the trap that because you don't see it on telly and because it hasn't got swish pits and cafes it isn't a well maintained circuit. It was completely resurfaced in 1999/2000 - which makes it one of the newest surfaces in the UK.
I also have driven most of the UK circuits and many abroad - I have driven over 10,000 track miles over the last 3 years and can honestly say Anglesey is one of my fav circuits.

There, we have a balanced opinion on Scoobynet, it is as you say Chris just a difference of opinion and I'm not really angry I just want people to see the other side - off to take chill pill now...

Davvers, have you seen the track since they started work on extending the track ?

Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome track and recommend it highly. But as you leave "School" up to "Radar", there's a big drop to the left where they've started excavating, meaning it's no good as run-off any more.

Also, as the run off around School dips down to the sea, it does make you wonder if/when you'll stop should you leave the track (esp. in the wet)

Fair comment Davvers....

I have to say that if you read my earlier posts I firmly believe it suits the smaller/open top type cars...that's all....I am in the process of buying such a car and certainly would look forward to venturing out onto Anglesey with such a motor....
