I have a gems ecu ,td0518g ,650inj ,upgraded fuel pump ,upgraded fuel regulater ,upgraded fuel line ,forged pistons(2.2)and its running 1.5 bar boost
also 3" exhaust.when its ticking over its fine when you rev is its running rich .And the car is a light weight body .
can be a bit of a hand full to drive some times,it tends to drift to a side when you floor it .

Im having no problems running 400 the only problem is you get used to it then you want more but in different areas thats when it gets hard to decide which way to go. steve I would say you have gone through every variation possible by now or do you have something else in mind

My next weapon of choice will be the GT35r It will be fitted at the begining of next year and it will be scary I did consider the big APS twin srcroll and other similar versions but after a talk's with turbo technics I decided to stick with a moddest single scroll

I have a UK Newage (STI8) with MD321H, tubular headers, 650 injeectors and all the usual supporting mods. It makes a tad over 400bhp and around 360lb/ft of torque.
It's great fun to drive - the power builds very progressively but unlike the standard car, just keeps on building right the way to the limiter. There's plenty of low-down torque and throttle response is crisp.
On the road it's ballistic - huge fun and very quick through the gears. However with the pedal pressed to the metal it requires a degree of respect in damp or wet conditions. Spinning up all 4 wheels is quite achieveable in 3rd. Having said that, it's not tiring to drive and doesn't require 'eyeballs out' concentration.
400bhp in a Newage is probably about right. However, as I'm sure others on here will understand, you still kind of end up wanting more...

I have just got my car back after some mods - after Andy F re-map my car hit 414bhp and he said around 360ft/lbs torque!! It is brilliant to drive, idles well etc and pulls much harder in every gear now!!
Only problem is i blew a gasket the night i got it back, and now i think its gone again. Going back to garage tomorrow to get it seen to. It was a gasket in the headers, but not sure if its the same 1 agai nthis time.
Anyone else had gasket problems with this amount of power?

How much boost has Andy mapped in?
My 2 litre is coping easy with 1.6 bar (mapped by Andy) and the exhaust to turbo uses OEM gaskets but i made very sure the flanges were VERY flat.
My headers are Gruppe S '2 bolt' ones which are not the best today, but all is rock stable and tight at that pressure.
Fresh gaskets, OEM and progressive tightening rather than air gun one side crushing the gasket and then air gun the other I suggest.
New gaskets for the heads and all the up pipe (pre turbo) joints. I roughed up and flattened my gasket faces with 200 wet or dry wrapped around a large flat file to keep it all on the level. You might have to take the headers off to do it this way.
Been perfect for 3 years, 10 full on races a year and 7000 road miles.

Sadly me too. I noticed that mine had started blowing from the front last week. Power feels down and my fuel economy is truly shocking. From a full tank I am current on 115 miles and on the 1/4 mark .
Car is off the road until I get the gaskets sorted again. I am am 35/50 miles down fuel-wise at that mark compared to normal.

I have an observation in regards to the OP original question. I spent a lot of time in summer driving a friends 360 Ferrari Spider which produces nigh on 400 brake and to be honest my Scoob with about 300 always felt faster which of course it wasnt.
The Ferrari has a much more linear power delivery and for that reason it was always getting faster and faster but the power delivery was smooth and not in the same way as the Scoob delivers its power (with the sudden rush as boost ramps up). The 360 was a very easy car to drive (a bit twitchy on the limit) but unless you hammered it halfway around corners, it has very smooth and usable power.
Funnily enough, when he rode as a passenger in my car he went, WOW, how much power does this have? When I said about 3/4 of what you have, he was amazed and said it felt faster then the Spider
The 360 was a lovely car to drive but I always preferred getting back in the Scoob. I find the delivery of the Turbo engine a lot more fun but I would give anything to get that Ferrari sound coming out my exhaust
So I know a 360 doesnt relate to a Scoob with 400 bhp, but 400 bhp in a scoob should be a hell of a lot of fun

I cannot tell whether it is the same gasket thats gone again, or a different 1. I have not been able to get under the car. We replaced the gasket with a steel STI 1 on sat morning (got car back on fri and it went after about 30 minutes) and then something went again on sun.
I think its mapped to 1.55 bar and tails off at the end.
