Sport is part physical and part opportunity - take black kids with the physical ability to jump and run and give them the chance to play ball 24/7 in da hood...and they take over the NBA. Swimming,tennis, golf etc requires more money to do as a kid so they dont get the chance......when they do you end up with tiger woods and the williams girls.

Same as east Africans with stamina - anyone can jog for free, hence they clean up.


The intelligence thing is hard to work out because (in africa) they seem unable to motivate themselves to do anything that isnt handed out to them......hence Zimbabwe is going down the pan, all very clever when it comes to taking the Rhodesian farmers land back.....not so good when it comes to getting up at 5am and planting some seeds on it!

Without going off topic this thread really has got me thinking (Ok yeah yeah hard i know) but seriously what is intelligence?

Dont think Beckham can be regarded as intelligent in any way for the money he makes through football (although one could argue its as a result of even less intelligent people paying their weeks wage to get their kids shirts to look like him...another issue!)

For all we know, he may well be right. On a statistical level there are demonstrable differences in abilities and atributes between the races, just as there are with the sexes. Many of these are accepted as fact, mainly because no-one is offended if you point out that black people tend to be stronger, and it's perfectly ok to point out that white people are weaker because, well, they're white. Same with the thing about asians being more intelligent.

But ultimately does it matter? If I meet a random person, whether it's out on the street or interviewing them for a job, these statistical trends are meaningless, what actually matters is whether this person standing in front of you is thick or not, and you have no way of knowing that based on some physical attribute that they were born with.

Sure, if the guy standing in front of you is decked out in gang regalia then maybe you should avoid them, but that's completely different as they have chosen to present themselves in that way.

Everyone's an individual. At least give them a chance to do something stupid before you assume that they are.

 

No it isn't. It's an oblate spheroid, which means it's slightly flattenned at the poles. If you want to be really picky, it's a bit pear-shaped.

Do you think the Kenyans would have a hope in hell if the cost of running was on a par with golf or tennis? You can have all the physical attributes you need but if you cant afford the sport you're stuck.

Its all about genetics, some races are made for swimming, some races are made for running its only natural that some races will have a lower capability when it comes to the brain dept.
Wether the research is right or wrong is irrelevant, the theory is just that...a theory, the race card shouldnt come into it.

 

The race card comes into play straight away, by the claim that black people are less intelligent. Whether the research is correct is a matter of opinion, as it depends on what we actually class as intelligence and the context that his research was based upon.

Only my opinion, without boring anyone with a long winded response.

I´d suggest that the research is a matter of record rather than opinion. Of course these are statistics that show a trend rather than imply that everyone of a particular ethnic background fits the pattern.

To me, and I only speak from my opinion, statistics may show a trend, but if many of the black community are living in poorer areas (I may well be wrong) then they are likely to under achieve, as people from any other ethnic backgrounds may well do within the same place.
