Well it was going so well.......
Leg pain had gone and I'd managed a couple of short runs with no pain....
THEN....
Did a 6 mile fast walk carrying about 30 Kg.... 5.5 miles fine, then came back again
Not as bad but really frustrating....
It's not as bad as before but I'm going to take it as easy as possible and train light.
Cancelled Sunday Cross Country but will do a couple of miles and see how it goes?

Sorry for the delay in posting....
Well the shin is still playing up and I'm getting very nervous about the marathon.....
I've decided I'm going to do the run anyway as so many people have supported me, but still I'm not sure how the leg will hold up?
I've done two 5 mile runs with the 6 mile walk where it played up again... One on Sunday and another Tuesday. I'm trying to leave at least 24hrs between runs now so today I'm due to run again.
The sunday run was great, I wore a support but the run Tuesday I forgot it and the shin started to "niggle" at the end. Someone once told me the hardest part of running a marathon is getting to the start uninjured and biy were they right!
I've ordered the best shin support money can buy and I'm also popping so many pills that I'm probably going to fly around!!!! So I'll see how it goes.
Anyway... I won't be posting much for couple of weeks after tomorrow as i'm away for 2 weeks with the Army, if i come back no worse, I'll be happy!

Well sorry for the delay over the last few days but what with the Army and training, it's been manic!!!!!
Well only did a couple of runs last week as I'm seriously tapering now (even though I never really peaked).
Friday, I ran 5 miles at work in around 41 mins which was fine. Then Sunday I ran my last long run which was just under 7 miles. I was 9.50/miling so a little slow, but steady.
Well it's this weekend.... Strating to think that last years heat wave might not be an issue? I'm starting to change my diet slightly also as I'm going to slowing consume more carbs in order to store more energy and avoid hitting "the wall" until the last moment. I'll be 45st by the end of the week!!!!
Also if anyone wants to run a sweep on what mile i hit the wall with all the stakes going to EAA, then feel free!!!!! (note last time i hit it at 12 mile!!!)
Speak soon.

Well what can I say? I've never experienced anything like that before......
Felt really relaxed at the start and as the gun went off I started to go for it! Then ground to a halt as everyone decided to stop!
The first few miles continued like this and I have to admit it was frustrating..... After about 7 miles I started to open the pace and have to admit the crowd was amazing!!!!!!
I passed the Massi Warriors at 8 miles and have to admit they didn't look like they were having fun!!!! They may run 100's of miles a day, but that's not thru the streets of London....
Then around 10 miles the rain cam down..... HARD. Once again, the crowds were awesome, not letting up on the cheering!
Tower Bridge was a welcome sight at 12 miles as I now knew were I was.... I got to the halfway point and was feeling ok... I was a little nervous as I should have done 3 x 20 mile runs in training and i'd only done 1 x 16 miles!!!!
By now I could see the elite runners going the other way and they did depress me a little as I knew I had ages to go yet. I got 14 miles and I all of a sudden started feeling tired. I had this before in my other marathon and just kept going.
16 miles and I entered The Isle of Dogs.... Again I started to feel low and I had to move to the side of the runners and feed off the supports who would cheer my name as I ran.... (it was on my shirt!)
Coming out of docklands I was again feeling low as my calves were snapping with cramp, loads of people around me were stopping and streaching off so I stopped and copied them. BIG MISTAKE! as soon as I did this, it came of million times worse. So off I went again.
As I got to the 20 mile mark I was feeling ok considering and was now feeding off the crowd more, Literally as I was eating everything I could get my hands on.... By now I was getting fed up with drinking water and Lucazade Sport and was eating as many jelly babies as i could get.
Going towards Tower of London and I could see the back markers just going over the halfway point... I felt really bad for them as they had so far to go still.
Well as I entered the City, the crowds were packed and I started to speed slightly because of this. I got to the 23 mile point and it really hit home for the first time that I was going to finish. Again, the crowd was superb and the kids handing out sweets and hi 5ing.
As I came up to Big Ben, I knew the finish was just around the corner. I saw all the guy's from 4 Para managing the crowd and it was nice to shout some hello's.
Well I could see the palace and there were only a few yards to go.... Just as I approached the finish I got ready for the photo on the line and noticed that Mr Tickle was next to me... Well I wasn't letting him be in my picture, so I sprinted off as fast as I could.
I crossed the line and have to admit felt like crying... but didn't. I got my medal and changed into my dry clothes in the pooring rain.
4 hours 14 minutes 3 seconds.
I'd like to say thanks to all the ESC for the messages and the pledges.
BUT MOSTLY - Mrs Bibo!
Kelly, without you I wouldn't have made the start let alone the finish. You were the one that gave as much as me supporting me when I was out all hours of the day training.
You deserve the medal, not me!!!!
P.S. your not having it though!
Well this is it! The last entry on this thread...
There's been tears and pain but it's all been worth it.
See you there next year!!!!! (maybe)

Havent been for a few years but its defo a great day (if the weather is up to it ) Only trouble is the road is closed so have to be in before they close it and out once most of the runners/walkers have past.. Being mile 22 can take some time.
