The Ironic thing is this:-

If CURRYS see this thread, with the number of people viewing it, they will want to settle .....

Will they give a flying crap what is said - apart from the fact that it is utterly damning? No, I don't think so

Imagine how good they would look if they treated me fairly and honestly? I would post here how they saw sense and rallied to the customers side

But, as it stands, they are CRAP!!!!

You wont hear from them Pete, there waiting to see what happens

think about it, they get loads of complaints like this everyday, if they responded to them all, and rolled over and played dead, coughing up a new plasma or fridge freezer every 5 minutes they'd be out of business asap.

A lot of complainents give it the old "solictior", "small claims" etc,

Unless you follow up your course of action, they,ll just put you on the back burner.

one option you could try, get a sandwich board, detail your concern on it, and stand outside the store...

when you get nicked make sure it goes to court, call dixons store manager as a witness, and make sure the press are there

seriously Pete, you need to file papers, otherwise your latest myth will be blown wide open

Hi Mart

The Court needs to be convinced that I have gone the 'extra mile' to secure a settlement ...... I am pretty much on my way to that goal - I have offered to take the TV back to the store at my expense, I have offered a cup of tea and time for me off work (AGAIN) to allow a workshop rep to come out, I have accomodated 4 Engineers, I have given them every opportunity to resolve the issue.

The more reasonable I am, the more reasonable the judge will be with me - I've been to court a few times now and it's always the same .... who has bent over backwards and who has brickwalled the other.

CURRYS are now brickwalling me - which is perfect for me

Pete

Was that because of the green pixel, or because you felt you had a new inner strength and had become a gladiator

I think until this matter is resolved you should put a small piece of black tape over the offending pixel so as not to disrupt your viewing too much

I have a projector and that has a dust spot smack bang in the middle, now you think your TV is bad, this dust spot is much bigger when projected onto the 100 inch screen I have, and does become infuriating especially on dark scenes

I though don't have the option of taking the projector back as I got it for free from my previous company (as it was being skipped due to the computer input displaying a dark green cast, however video signal is perfect minus big dust spot)

My only option is to remove the lens and clean the dust spot, but I have now just managed to get a different projector (at least for the time being, currently on test prior to ebay )

I don't want to mess about with the TV until the dispute is resolved.

A small black dot positioned correctly would maybe ease the infuriation.

I have seriously thought about putting a pin through the pixel to kill it

The really strange thing is that it disappeared once over the weekend - went black? my relief was great ...... until a couple of minutes later it fired up again!!

Well, had a call from CURRYS this morning.

They have again offered to take the TV into the workshops for up to 28 days to 'inspect' I asked them what they were going to 'inspect' which they hadn't already ..... I don't know they said, "I'm not Technical"

WELL GET SOMEONE TECHNICAL TO RING ME!!

I also said that I had rejected the TV under the Sale of Goods Act, anyway .... they again repeat that the TV is within Manufacturers Spec although it does have a 'Purity Error!"

And they cannot provide me with the Spec. they use!!!!
A purity error is a fault, a fault notified within 6 months is deemed to have been there at the Point of Sale.

"It's up to you if you want to take it to Court Mr Lewis" was their final goodbye .........................

Quite amazingly shockingly bad Customer Service

Do NOT buy from Currys/Dixons/PCWorld ...........

Looks like the Small Claims Court will require the presence of CURRYS in the near future

I will have to stop posting on this when the litigation commences, but up until then

I must say that this is seriously bad service from the firm. Rather then trying to give you a fair aftersales service, they are wriggling in every way to get out of their obligations. I would go so far as to say in a dishonest manner.

I hope you manage to pin them down in the end.

Cheers Les .. I am really shocked at their attitude .. the lady who rang me got rather stroppy and aggressive with me!!

What would it have cost them to treat an unhappy customer fairly? They could have had a look at the TV and replaced it - no fuss, just excellent customer service.

Remember what their Engineers said to me, all 4 of them, "We couldn't live with it, Sir" "But we doubt that the workshops will repair or replace it, don't send it in there - you will lose it for 28 days while they give an opinion" "It could be scratched and bashed and dented when you get it back too!"

"Thats off the record Sir" ...... not off the record according to my tape player and witnesses it isn't

Hi Pete, This is the email i have just them in regards to my own problems

Dear Reader,

I have just recently had possibly the worse experience with your Belfast Store to Donegal Arcade. To call the staff a waste of space could not be more for the truth as they are unhelpful, ignorant, unprofessional, liars and just down right thick!

To give you the background to why i have wrote this email I bought an Xbox 360 Premium from your Belfast Branch on the 25/08/07 which i bought using your credit arrangements. Approximately 3 to 4 months later my Xbox gave the red ring of death and I rang the Belfast store to which i was told that i could come down the next day and get a replacement. On arriving the next day I was told that there was no Xbox sat aside for me and they could not work out who told me this (in other words no one would own up to telling me dodgy information). Now as i don't drive i had to carry this Xbox 2miles down the road to the nearest train station which was mildly unpleasant and then drudge it from the Train station to your glorious shop which wasted my entire day off. I was told by one of your members of staff that i would have to travel to another store to get a replacement and after all this effort i really didn't have any other choice so did. That was another £20 down the drain thanks to your staff members inability to tell the truth.

So I get my new Xbox home and turn it on to find out ITS ALSO FAULTY. so i was a bit miffed but luckily a friend drove me to your Newtownabbey store and i got a replacement again and it did work so i was happy enough. Well i was happy enough up until the middle of September when my Xbox went faulty again with the same problem as the previous 2. After thinking this maybe something I was doing i read up on the interweb as ya do! to find that loads of people are having this red ring of death problem and was quite unhappy that I was sold a product that seems to have reliability issues. I contacted the Belfast Branch once again and asked them would they replace my Premium with an Elite model as the staff member told me these are more reliability as it is a new machine. As the product was not in stock I was told that one would be ordered for me and would be in stock within a few days which was a Wednesday. Wednesday came no Elite to which i was told it would be in Friday, then Wednesday, then Friday so on so forth with no one giving me a definite answer. After I cracked up slightly and being gave poor information the staff member from the Belfast branch i was on the phone to told me to head up to the Newtownabbey PC World Branch and that i would have an Elite held over for me. That night i went to PC World told them what was said and the Manager basically told me to get lost, to which i was very very very pissed off over. And as the Belfast Currys was closed, I headed to the Newtownabbey Currys branch to tell them what happened and was basically brushed off with the Manager telling me that the Manager of PC World was an idiot and that basically he should have done it. To me it sounded as though there seems to be disputes between the Dixon Groups Retail Branches and to be honest as a customer I don't need to know nor care all I am after is good service. Which has not been provided!

After contacting the Manager in the belfast Branch again, I think his name is Marty and asking him what the hell was going on he couldnt find my order for an Xbox Elite and seemed to know nothing about it and he really didn't care that I had been sent from Pillar to post by his members of staff.

Due to me not having any luck with the Manager. I complained on phone to your Complaints Department and after a day i got a phonecall back to say that this would be resolved for me and that the Newtownabbey Curry's Branch had an Elite awaiting for me. So yet again I headed to Newtownabbey with my Xbox under arm AGAIN and guess what, when i arrived THEY DIDN'T HAVE AN XBOX 360 ELITE held over for me. At this point can i just say WHAT SORT OF COMPANY ARE YOU LOT RUNNING?

Again i contacted the Manager Marty at the belfast branch and he told me he would get me an xbox elite within a week and would ring me back. 2weeks went past no phonecall and guess what when i went into the branch they still didn't have one for me either!

Well on the 1/11/07 I rang the Belfast Branch AGAIN and guess what they had Xbox Elites in which I wasn't contacted over. I was told by a member of staff to come in the next day and swap and Premium over for the Elite. The next day I did the same routine of trekking this BEAT UP LONG TRAVELED XBOX pack back into Belfast to be greeted by one of your lovely, well mannered members of staff. Sorry did i say lovely well mannered member of staff. I mean snot nosed, know it all, idiot whom i wouldn't **** on if he was on fire to tell me that i was lying and that no one told me to come in and do this and that he was not willing to give me what i was promised by multiple members of staff. As you might have guessed I became quite annoyed and told him that he was going to do it and that if he didn't the next stop would be my solicitors. So after half an hour of an argument over this i finally have got my Xbox 360 Elite BUT had to pay an extra £20 to get it which was just complete insult to injury but fortunately for your member of staff i had to start work soon so could not waste anymore that on this fool!

Also when i received my xbox Elite the member of staff who dealt with me took all my receipts for the xbox's i have had which also included other bits and bobs so i cannot give you exact dates for some of the things that have happened due to this. I would like these receipts posted back out to me our else I will be contacting my solicitor. I would also like explained to me why your credit company have told me I am legally within my rights to receive a refund for the hassle that has occurred why the Manager of the Belfast branch told me I wasn't and that he would definitely NOT give me a refund.

So there you go, this is why i will not ever be shopping in Currys/Dixons/PC World ever again and I can assure you that IF my new Xbox Elite goes faulty within not only the next year but the next 5 years i will surely be getting my solicitor involved as I cannot be bothered dealing with any of your members of staff personally ever again.

I also work for one of your largest competitors and my staff would generally pass customers over to your belfast branch if we do not have something in stock, this has now stopped as I am the Manager of said shop and would not be careless enough to send anyone into your pathetic stores to me sleazed upon by your untrained leech-like employees.

If i do not get a satisfactory response to this email within 14 days explaining why I have been treated so badly I will be going to the local and national newspapers regarding this as i'm sure it will do wonders for your pre-christmas sales.

Thank You for Reading

Group Buy on Litigation for CURRYS???

I've just contacted LG themselves, remembering their awful Customer Services a few years ago I was dreading it. They were actually very helpful!!

Now, I'm not sure they were winding me up .... but .... they said .... "Massage the area around the pixel and sometimes it will cure it!" Now, I am about to try it - so, don't laugh!! See if it does anything?

With regards their comments about CURRYS - well, I cannot repeat them - suffice to say that they do not rate CURRYS Customer Services!! They say, once you are out of the 28 days they don't give a crap about their Customers! They send people to them, he said, and they are very wound up at CURRYS total and utter lack of Support ...... LG themselves come out and sort the problems!

They also said that, in my case, CURRYS are using old out-of-date information regarding Dead Pixels ......... LGs policy changed about 5 months ago - doesn't matter now where the pixel is situated!

Glad I rang them - now to go do some massaging

Do NOT buy from any of the CURRYS Group of companies .......

I'd like to see you trying to poke a pin through a sheet of glass, are you sure you haven't got an LCD TV? I can't see massaging working either unless there is a broken track, in which case you would want a replacement anyway.

This LG Plasma doesn't have Glass .... it was a unique selling point (lighter see?)

And yes, the massaging was for LCD obviously (they must have had a laugh at LG imagining me massaging the TV!!!)

They said try a 'WhiteWash' ..... but I don't think that has done any good and it's all over the carpet too!!!

check your plasma has an anti screen burn facility and run it if it has,

failing that, find a channel thats not transmitting, just snow, no piccy and then turn the brightness up and leave the tv on ond go to bed

in the morning your dead pixel may be ok

I've tried the 'Whitewash' option ..... didn't help, it's a menu choice which shows a totally white screen to get rid of screen burn.

What is the definition of a 'Dead Pixel'? To my mind is is a pixel which is black, kapput, not working at all.

Mine is very much alive, too alive actually!! And flashing bright green, like a bloody lighthouse!

I'm awaiting a letter from CURRYS, I asked them to put into writing what they said to me on the phone yesterday.

LG are saying that CURRYS are using the wrong policy to decide on their course of action ... they are using a policy which is the old policy on pixel failure - I'm asking CURRYS what policy/spec/standard they are using in their workshops .... they cannot produce one!! SO WHY TAKE IT INTO THE WORKSHOPS?

You know what?

That is the most common tip given by people I speak to about 'my problem'.

But I do not think for one minute that CURRYS should escape their awful Customer attitude without some pain coming their way!

They are TRULY, TRULY AWFUL!!

Pete, have you contacted Kofi Annan at the UN ?

If that was me i would get in touch with him and declare war on currys headquarters, a few tanks coming over the hill and a few F16 and RAF Tornados coming in from high above should do the trick.

Just remember, the united nations are here to help with conflicts and in my opinion their is a big conflict going on between you and a dicatator and currys are little more than saddam hussains regime in disguise.
