Of course I'm sure Currys accurately calibrate all their display models

Also as Graz says, it is only once you tailor the settings on the display to your own particular preferences that you will really see how good it is.
In Shops, typically sets will have a "display" setting, which effectively is brightness, contrast and backlight (if applicable) all turned up to the max, and the colour tunred up way too high - In addition to this, they will have all sort of digital noise filters and such like turned on, which of course, you will turn off the second you get it home.
Once you do all this, a set that looked streets ahead in CUrrys, may turn out to be inferior once you have changed the settings to "real life"
That's not to say that your LG isn't any good - I had an LG plasma for 5 years before I switched to my Sharp LCD and it was great.
At the end of the day, if you happy with it, that's all that matters.
