Whilst they may all be operating under the same conditions, fed off the same source, etc. The only way a valid comparison can be drawn is if they are all calibrated using test cards and patterns from the same source. Otherwise the settings (contrast/brightness/colour/etc.) on all the sets will be different, what may be good in your eyes, may not be so good to someone else.

Of course I'm sure Currys accurately calibrate all their display models

Thing is Pete, some sets will have better SD perfomance than others and conversly the HD perfomance wont be as good. Perhaps performance under component is better than HDMI, or vice versa - Obviously all these factors will come into play once you get the set home - One set may suit your particular set up over another, but be a completely different situation for someone elses environment.

Also as Graz says, it is only once you tailor the settings on the display to your own particular preferences that you will really see how good it is.

In Shops, typically sets will have a "display" setting, which effectively is brightness, contrast and backlight (if applicable) all turned up to the max, and the colour tunred up way too high - In addition to this, they will have all sort of digital noise filters and such like turned on, which of course, you will turn off the second you get it home.

Once you do all this, a set that looked streets ahead in CUrrys, may turn out to be inferior once you have changed the settings to "real life"

That's not to say that your LG isn't any good - I had an LG plasma for 5 years before I switched to my Sharp LCD and it was great.

At the end of the day, if you happy with it, that's all that matters.
