My 20k Leon Cupra runs rings around 20k Astras, with the chavvy VXR included
Anyway like I said before the best way to save money on a car that you are only going to keep for 3-4 years is to buy something that holds onto its value well. I mean interest on a 20k car paid over 3 years is next to nothing really.
Actually now that I think about it 20k on a non VXR astra is a lot of money. You may have got 0% interest but you sure did get shafted elsewhere!

The Ashtray was under £16k (list is about £19k - Slower, more boring Passat/A4 was over £20k) and it's a diesel estate not a hot hatch. I am aware of what a hot hatch is as I ran them for five years, culminating in a Golf R32 which would "run rings" around an LCR. I drove an LCR and didn't like it BUT I'm not about to slag them off. Just wasn't me.
Your LCR will drop like a stone in value and be worth naff all ALREADY. Yes maybe a mk5 GTi will hold value better but we needed an estate car (surfboards, dog, etc) so opted for the Astra. And I don't like VXRs either -See I'm not "brand blind" - I take each model on merit, not badge. Badge "snobbery" is for the insecure with serious trouser content issues.
As agreed with Devildog, only a certain amount of performance is needed these days. If I want fast, I'll take my boat out.
Mind you, your posts are so immature that I have a feeling most people could "run rings" around your LCR in a base model Ibiza.

If you're happy with it, well done.
Why not just keep it at that and let everyone else enjoy their own car?
You have the car of a 25 year old and the mind of a 12 year old.

What the **** are you talking about?!!

You say if you want fast you would take your boat out. Somehow I doubt your boat is faster than any decent powered car, and then why do you always bang on about getting something fast again in the other marquee section. One minute its a M3 the next a evo. You say that your thinking of buying this then that, and tell us how you make a grand a day and then you ask about 0% interest car finance
And you never like the car that the person you are having an argument with drives.
Face it mate your astra is slow. No ifs or buts about it. The police have em and hate em, they want the astras and vectras replaced with BMW's as the pauxhalls are too slow!

Face it "mate", you have a serious chip on your shoulder which you try and hide with a bazzed up Leon.
Face it again mate, I've never said my car is fast.
Face it mate, you have no idea what bhp my R32 had (more than standard)
Face it mate, 300bhp through the front wheels is about as sensible as selling US flags in Basra.
Face is mate, you are brand blind. How is a BMW 318d quicker than a Monaro VXR?
Face it mate, you are a complete waste of space.
Face it mate, you're **** waving suggests you struggle with the ladies big time.
Face it mate, you try and make up for it with a lump of metal.
Oh and I never mentioned getting an M3 at any stage.
And you're a stalker.

1. Unless your R32 had a supercharger or turbo kit fitted it aint more powerful than my leon. The 3.2 V6 doesnt respond well to remaps compared to my turbo unit.
2. True in most cases but my Leon is getting a trick LSD fitted similiar to what BTCC cars have fitted, and they are no slouches for FWD cars
3.Only VXR we are talking about is the astra. Dont take things out of context.Nice try but its pretty damn obvious no one is gonna bring a 40 grand car into a 20k car convo.
4.The rest of the things you mentioned are ever so mature. You are an honour to the scoobynet community
P.S whats a "bazzed up" leon?

Oh don't be daft.
Of course I don't mean the boat is faster than a car.
It's fast - for a boat.
Just like 45mph is fast for a bicycle.
And 15mph is fast for a runner.
It'll do just shy of 45mph and is my bit of petrolhead heaven. No traffic in the way, no speed cameras, just fun.
Means I don't feel the need to bleat on about a chavvy car all the time.

Haha - this is indeed an amusing post.
Matteeboy - it saddens me that you think that someone else is 'taking the hit' for interest on your 0% deal. You have already taken the hit, not someone else.
The dealer is selling someone else's financing package as if it's 0% - in practice they only get a proportion of what you've paid them. i.e. you have borrowed £16k at commercal rates with a repayment profile. Let's say that repayment profile is 3 yrs and the effective borrowing rate is 7%. The dealer receives £13,060 with the finance house keeping the balance in lieu of future interest payments. You pay the finance house £16k which means they have earnt their 7% interest over the 3 years.
As has already been posted, you would have got the car cheaper if you'd been a straight cash purchaser.
Sorry - and look forward to the impassioned post telling how thick I am

Anyway - my boat is faster than yours, my motorhome is bigger than yours, my house is bigger than yours, I earn more than you, my car depreciates less than yours, and my wife is better in bed than yours
so there

I heard the immigrants do not have to hunt for 0% or worry about depreciation as they get given cars when the jump off of the boat/train/plane.
I'll get my coat...
This post is to lighten the mood on an otherwise off topic slagging match which this thread has become

Yes yes yes.
Once again, it's time to leave SN for a while, wait for the muppets to go away, come back when something interesting is posted, and repeat the cycle ad infinitum.
Gordo - Sensible sums there. Always willing to be proved wrong. Might well buy the next car outright then. Cheers and goodbye.

To be fair Matteeboy, surf dude, boat man you did ask on a public forum about buying a brand new car on a 0% finance deal, and we all replied saying they dont really exist and that buying a brand new car is stupid.
You can't then chuck your toys out the pram when we all confirm as above.
