Not ideal. The second clip of the Belgian Malinois shows it ignoring commands and turning on the handler.

My next door neighbour, he was asleep in the back living room, they came in through the back garden saw him asleep, went round to the front and drilled the locks out of the door, came in took his keys and briefcase and two cars, tried to find the keys to the 3rd car (his 1 week old E class Merc) but couldnt so headed off into Liverpool

They left my house and my Scoob, so they had obviously targetted him for his Merc, but he had only had it week so they worked pretty quick for that one

He woke up and had no idea what had happened, until his Missus phoned for him to go pick her up and he realised he had no cars
I tried to go into cash converters the other day wearing a hat and was stopped and told to take it off as people use them to hide from the camera and nick stuff in there oh the irony when 80% of the stuff in there is nicked in the 1st place. My Dad had his work tools nicked from a site a few years ago and guess where they turned up

Problem with dogs is they can be easily led, by food normally.Trained dogs are a different matter but how many home owners have a fully trained guard dog that wont shut up the moment a pie hits the ground in front of it.

They can also knock the living daylights out of what is in most cases the house hold pet.

The law should be adjusted to state if you are a home owner defending your home/family against ANY intruder then you are exempt from prosecution.

Murder is a different matter but again such a case will be tried in a court of law and all the evidence submitted.

Also if you are in a situation involving a gun always remember to fire 2 shots, the first into the intruder then place the gun in his/her hand and fire another into the ceiling. Statement: in the ensuing struggle after they shot at me i managed to get the gun off them and shot them dead officer.

Whilst trying to look all innocent and upset.

Trained dogs are indeed a different matter.

I think most people would actually be upset at shooting and killing someone in their hallway, rather than remembering to fire that second shot into the ceiling to make their story look better.....

Or just be plain adamant that they won't fire the second shot as they've only just recently decorated.

Even though we have our monitored alarm on (inc garage ) and several locked doors between ourselves and the bad guys, I still like to have a few toys on hand.

1 x 5 cell maglite - not only can do provide them with a physical incentive to leave, you can burn their eyeballs out too. It's black as well, which is quite menacing, it's the LAPD Rodney King commemorative edition...

1 x Harsey Hunter - several inches of surgical steel for close encounters. Collectors Edition too

1 x co2 Walther CP88 - for shooting cans in the garage and aiming at the eyeballs of intruders... Looks and sounds more menacing that it really is.

Mind you the blank firing p99 will have yer eardrums out!

Its good to know what you would do. The benefit about the right dogs is being aware that there is a problem. We've 2 Jack Russels and as soon as the front gate goes they create merry hell at the front door so anyone trying a quiet approach would know we would be awake. The same applies at the back of the house they have open access through the cat flap and are out there at the slightest noise. So they could be dealt with by a burglar but not quietly as no way could they be fed anything quietly. Personally I think they are the reason we were never burgled in our last house in a reasonably high crime area. criminals need it to be reasonably easy and its one thing surprising people its another doing it when they know you're coming. Then you have to know how best to deal with people and avoid prosecution and you can only use things that are to hand so best to keep it easy to explain. I've got legally held firearms and would simply barricade the door and if they came through it would have the semi auto 12 bore to hand with some cartridges designed for deer that tend at close range to just make holes in things. Perfectly fine to get it out of the cabinet thats in the bedroom if you're feeling threatened enough and if they break into a barricaded room then I believe I would be fine in using it.

Class i like that one Spoon.

DCI Gene.

I was told that statement several years ago when i joined a handgun club, some of the nutters who back then could get a licence shocked me, they all had at least 7 hand guns which they kept at home.

Why would you need so many, i was chuffed with a 357 Magnum and an IMI Jericho and i kept these at the club at all times. I did live in Liverpool though at my mums at the time and she would have gone mad if i brought a gun cabinet home with a Policeman to check home security before the certificate could be issued.
