I've had it happen, took my 18month old 206 into a main dealer for service and to cut a long story short they filled the oil level upto the top on the way home it ran on oil and revved it's t1ts off and I couldn't stop it - broke the engine mounts in the end and was close to bouncing on the under side of the bonnet lol

Not at all. I've seen it happen. Young lady sitting at the lights revving away - smoke billowing. I think 'FFS you are going to blow that up' Then she jumps out and looks panicky. I get out of my car and she explains it won't stop revving. Quote me "Have you tried turning it off?" - She shows me the keys in her hand. Dumping the clutch in 5th isn't immediately obvious. Stood there having a good think for a few seconds. A million ways to stop a petrol car come to mind. None for diesels though. By this stage you couldn't see for smoke, so I was contemplating how to make my escape when the thing blew up. Never did know why this happened until I read this thread

Lovely site when she goes though like a diesel version of a mushroom cloud. The look of sheer panic on the womans face still cracks me up, she looked like her car had been possesed by satan.
