I've just spent the last half hour reading this entire thread, and I'm overly impressed by your level of commitment and attention to detail with the build.

A bit of success for a change

New second hand loom appeared yesterday, and to my surprise it is the right one... Must be something wrong there...??

Anyway my faith in breaker yards resumed, I had to do the only thing I could once I had realised the loom was the right one, and that was to fit it... ( not good really, as I have other cars to do )

So out with the wrong loom, and in with the new second hand loom.



With the loom in, I could also get the heater assembly in, along with the dash strengthener thing...
It's been a while since I stripped it, but it seemed to go back together without too much drama..


Also got some of the engine bay components into place, to see what I have and haven't got.

I am also trying to minimise some of the loom on show in the engine bay, especially around the bulkhead area.
I am planning on running some of the loom where the wiper mechanism is,(which I you can just see on the next pic) and also maybe reposition the fuse box...



As I am planning on going blow through MAF, I need to decide where the MAF is going to be, and re-route/lengthen the wires accordingly..

So the wiring saga begins again, and I'll probably end up splitting most of the loom at some point..

A bit of unexpected progress today..

Managed to get hold of the following parts..

STI gearbox mount..



Whiteline front anti roll bar, and got it fitted





Rear Whiteline droplinks.



Front and rear Whiteline strut braces..



Hopefully should have a rear Anti roll bar this week also..

Bit of an update.

First, I am still undecided on what engine route to take..

My original choice was a built 2.5 to go with my 321T.

However, I have in my possesion a 2.2 motor, with forged internals..

Knowing what a 2.5/321T performs like, makes it my prefered choice, but also knowing the problems some chaps are having with these, I then sway towards the 2.2 option...

However, the 2.2 is up for sale, and if I get what I'm asking for it, then it will go and I will definately go down the 2.5 route.

Anyway, whilst awaiting for parts to arrive, and for my finances to sort themselves out, I took another look at the side skirt situation..

I originally had this set up, which was OK, but not what I was looking for..





So I attacked them today, to see what I could do..

First off, I managed to trim them so they do not stick out as far, and meet up with both the rear door extension, and the front wing.

Next I decided that they were simply too deep, so I chopped them in two..

Here you can see the 25mm I intend to chop out..



Chopped, and stuck together..



Next job, fibreglass matting and resin..

A`bit of fettling up, and they might just do...

I had thought of that Darren, but the curve in the skirts wouldn't allow it.

Basically the rear section of the skirt has a concave curve, where as the door/arch extension is more of a convex curve.

Anyway, both skirts are cut 'n' shut now, and I'm thinking of getting a mould done from them before I paint/fit them to the car...

as you know i embarked on the full stainless goodridge hoses etc. i have passed myself twice going back up my own ****,why do we do this to ourselves. we are bloody insane.
the sills look a lot cleaner like that. i am making something to hold my evo PAS tank and the buddyclub condenser and the fuel reg. now the batterys going in the boot. a few brackets covered in carbon maybe. just waiting for the weather to get to freezing point lol

Small update..

All the glass has been fitted, along with roof trims and door mirrors.
The interior is now in a state where it can be kept clean, ready for the interior work to begin..

I also managed to get both side skirts modified and in primer, along with the rear bumper.

You can see I've also smoothed out the swage line in the lower half of the bumper, as it no longer has to 'match' the OEM side skirts..







Also a quick shot of the spacers I have had to make in order to push the OEM rear bumper out to meet the arches..




Still not entirely sure whats happening engine wise...

What I may end up doing is putting my 2.2 in along with my MD321T turbo and seeing how it goes, while I build up another 2.5 alongside..

Small update, as I have been a bit busy with 'some other chaps' car..

Anyway, side skirts and rear bumper are painted, and bumper is fitted.




Managed to get hold of this also...






Nice carbon jobbie form Chargespeed...Awesome quality, and much cheaper than other offerings..

Engine casings are down at Zen Performance, ( Zen Performance ) to be assembled with new crank, rods and hone to fit pistons, and ACL bearings, all courtesy of Mark at Lateral, ( Lateral Performance ).


After initially getting a r180 diff, complete with driveshafts, I soon realised that the driveshafts were still not the correct ones.
I now have the correct rear diff and driveshafts in my possession, at last...


Brakes should be here within the next week hopefully.


Also purchased a later centre console set up for the interior..A bit premature maybe, but it came up for sale so I bought it...

Oh, and I also got another front bumper from darren at ABW, ( autobodyworks Subaru Bodywork )whch I have 'doctored' to fit the FMIC neatly...
