Big_Dan531 - "my mums as a named driver" - thats the point - you had basically used a fiddle to insure yourself, which could have bitten you if you had an accident and the insurance company sussed you.
If a young person wants an Impreza, they should have proper legit insurance IN THEIR NAME - not on their parents, not under their bosses name etc...

wow 5ync at 21? you must have passed your test when you was 16
i dont know were all these are getting insurance on scoobs at that age. my mate is 21 2years nc and he is wanting a scoob newage wrx 4k plus. so i said why not try a uk 2000 he was still getting quoted over 3k.
im 24 5ync have owned and insured other perfomance cars before and still pay 1k now on a my02 wrx.
but if you can afford these high quotes go for it because you dont mind paying extra to drive a scoob, just remember they are still expensive to run without even taking into account insurance.

And as MikeCardiff has said, insuring yourself as named driver on someone elses policy and being the full time driver of the car is fraud.
I dont understand it really, if you cant afford to insure the car yourself totally and utterly straight then you cant afford the car and shouldnt own it.
Myself a long with loads of others on here pay their dues and have coughed up for extortionate insurance premiums because its part and parcel of owning one of these cars.
I always try to put myself in the position of the people you might hurt - no one wants to have an accident but imagine having one and hurting someone else then finding your insurance is invalid and wont pay out...

You need to be careful here, sometimes the only people that recognise these bonus years no claims are the companies that offer them.

To the young guys having problems getting insurance.
THERE IS A REASON FOR THIS !
Most companies wont cover young drivers in performance cars for a good reason - because they know it will end up wrapped around a lamp post while the driver shows off to their mates.
Yes, I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but the majority of little Corsas and 106's I see being driven dangerously at night is unreal - and its always a young lad driving with a few of his mates in the car. Would I want to share the roads with these drivers if they were given 'proper' cars to drive....
Also ( and all young people will disagree here ) your attitude changes a LOT ( or should do unless you dont grow up ) as you get older - you realise that you arent actually indestructable, and dont take the same risks. You also dont tend to drive around aimlessly all night with your mates in the car ( as you have your own houses, so dont need to get out from your bedroom at your parents place ) so are less likely to try and show off in inappropriate places.
Would I let any of my children have an Impreza at 20 ? no chance - would I help them fiddle the insurance to get one ? even less chance !

20withascooby - you will continue to get high quotes until the car is in your name.
Insurance companies arent stupid, and some young lad coming to them wanting to insure a performance car that is in someone elses name ? they know whats going on.
Just the same as the people who put the car in their parents name and go on as a named driver - if there is an accident or theft your chances of getting paid out are virtually zero when they find out your parent has another car insured in their name that is their actual one - and the insurance companies are pretty wise to people doing this so will do a full investigation.

Hmmm find this quite interesting.
To the OP, sell some organs, thats how much the insurance will cost you, let alone the fuel and running costs
To anyone trying to "get around" the insurance, read the small print, if its your car you may find that you have to insure it, trying to defraud an insurance co by stating falsehoods on a legally binding document means you are committing a fraudulent offence, which by the way is a jailable offence of a minimum of 5 years. Personally id rather pay the insurance premium, you wont end up with a criminal record that way

That's just because of all the txt speak you're using. We understand the insurance fiddle perfectly, it's the oldest trick in the book. You:
- buy a high performance car
- register it in someone else's name, your boss in this case
- take out cover on a much cheaper car, making sure you get the 'driving other cars' extension
- cheerfully drive your performance car, safe in the delusion that you're covered.
Sure enough, the police give you a producer and you show them your paperwork. You lie and say that the car belongs to someone else, and if they don't bother to investigate any further then you're lucky and you get away with it. You conclude that all is well.
Check your insurance certificate though, and I bet you'll find wording something like:
"The policy holder may also drive, with the permission of the owner, other cars not owned by him/her or hired to him/her under a hire purchase agreement."
The key here is "not owned by", it doesn't say "not registered to".
Now suppose you have a crash and need to make a claim. Your insurance company has a lot to lose, especially if someone is hurt. Why would they NOT spend a while checking up on exactly who owns the car before paying up?

Obviously, I dont know you, and you probably hate everyone on here telling you what you are doing is wrong. But it is.
Dont forget - we were all your age, we all wanted the car - so we do understand what you are trying to achieve.
If you are going to buy this car, put it in your name, insure it in your name, keep everything 100% normal.
If you cant insure the car doing it the correct way then dont buy the car.
If you can afford the insurance payments in your own name and the car registered to you, then great! Enjoy the car and be careful.

and there is nothing wrong with being on someone else policy to insure ur car such as putting the insurance in ur partents name and youself being put as named driver. ur still covered on the policy i phoned up the inusrance company for my mum and did it all and put my self on as a named driver and they had no problem with it what so ever
