The enging going in is from a Jap market STi - no TGV valves.
Using the UK STi ECU is going to throw a CEL and may go into safe mode as it won't be able to test the TGV valves.
The TGV problem can be got rid of with a remap (£400-600), but I'd also check with someone moer knowledgeable than I about other problems using a Jap engine with a UK ECU.

i didnt think i had a pop at anyone. I havnt had to buy anything yet.
A lot of people just reply with, yeah your box will smash, who have no justification to this. Just going on what they assume will happen.
like iv said before, the difference between the GX and a cheap Sti is £8k, If i spend that on the GX, im looking at 350-400bhp and a green one! I dont want blue, black, silver or white! I want a green Sti.

I'm running somewhere in the region of 350bhp, on a my00 Turbo box and has handled pretty much everthing If thrown at it, Full bore Launches all wheels spinning through 2nd Gear in the dry etc....
I'm sure these are much stronger that the early classic boxes.
I will soon be putting in a 2.5 Engine and will run it in on the existing g/box, then the plan is to keep upping the power until the gearbox Breaks!!
You don't know until you've tried!!

My GX took some serious abuse tho, and it never missed a beat. Launch's off the limiter, a lot of abuse on gravel/dirt track's. Its a tough old b*stard!
give it time, will sort it out!

Actually have to launch around 6000 rpm Because of the size of the Turbo, I would say I've done this about a dozen times, I find I get very little traction doing this though as the wheels light up every time, which is probably saving my g/box. Have covered approx 5000 Miles with the GT30 on running 1.3 Bar.

Was suprised at how little grip I get.
I had a V8 STI before with 400+BHP and it never used to spin the wheels as much as my classic does.
Will be very careful on bends when the 2.5 goes in!!

Yep spinning the wheels will save your gearbox. I doubt wou would be so lucky if the tyres had traction.
I was running 300lbft in my UK classic. It hadnt had a hard life and only spent around 12months at this power as a daily driver (around 8k miles).
I did 6, 4k rpm launches on a RWYB and a week later it spat a tooth out of second wan it was under very little load (it was snowing). I now have PPG kit.
If this was my project I would stick an STi 6speed in or a 5 speed with PPG from the off. From the figures your after I wouldn't be happy with less.
