I've got an invite to go down to Carstin's in Coventry next Friday to have a test of the new WRX and their P1 demonstrator.

I enquired about trade in on mine for a P1 just over a month ago - no change to the list price at 31,495 but did offer me c 18,200 for my MY00, bought March ( 23,050 new - s/roof, A/C )

I have the same dilemna - love the look of the P1 and want one - just a question of money and whether I'd be making a mistake buying now when they could be cleared out at a reduced rate later..... or are we really into the last hundred? Grrr! I believe the P1 will be something of a classic though and I would hate to miss out.

Anyone else going down to Carstins this week in the same position?

Dave.

I'm with Dave25 on this.

Anyone know what the position is at Bell & Colvill or anywhere else around London?

Bell & Colvill and good deal do not come into the remotetest proximity.

B&C are the ones who managed to sell a second hand Terzo with 20k miles on it for £29,900 a couple of years ago.

They currently have a used 340R for sale at £34,995 when any other dealer is struggling to sell them at £30k...

could not resist losing out so i have done the deal.
will be sick as a pig if they come down to £25k.that bug eyed thing worried me so i had to buy the last of the greats.
led to believe there are less than 70 left.
but salesmen are good at that arent they.

Hi Happy,

I think you kind of got your P1 for £25k given they gave you so much for your previous car. It is the funny games that salesman do. This way nothing gets devalued.

Have fun in with the P1 - lucky dog

After my post earlier in the day I managed to get a test drive a little earlier than expected!

For those who are considering it:

- Performance is superb, and if my MY00 is anything to go by, should be better once more miles are on than the 3000 the demonstrator had. If I don't get the P1, I'm certainly getting the quickshift for my MY00

- Handling and grip are great, holds on tenaciously and reinforces my view that the 17" wheels and tyres make a big difference ( tested a MY99 with Prodrive Handling Pack and 17's before ) Does the P1 have a strut brace at the front as standard or am I seeing things? Ride is calm and not harsh at all.

- Interior is more roomy, find I don't knock my legs on the transmission tunnel anymore. Nice extra's like reading lights in the front.

- Rear wash / wipe must be worth the extra money alone...

- It get's more looks than standard car.

- Brakes are still complete pants.

- What are all these 'STi' logos? I have no idea ;-)
