AWD,

First of all, I did not say at any point, that I was 'angry' with Dave TS, or SunilP. I enjoy reading their friendly banter in the muppet forum as much as anyone. What I said, was that I was annoyed that a thread I had started, because I had genuine concerns about my Scooby (This is SCOOBYNET!), had been transformed into a muppet thread! You say that I should have attempted to 'steer it back on course'... I think that is a bit difficult after comments about sexual intercourse with sheep and other peoples fathers, don't you? And what do I do next time a similar thing happens? Attempt to steer it back again? and again? I am grateful for both Mark's (Blackscoobys) and Dave's attempts to help me, but did not get chance to tell them before the thread was muppetised!

As I said in my first post I was not originally going to post anything, but Otis asked for peoples opinions, and I gave mine. Next time, I will check with you before I post to make sure it is okay

I did not request for the Webmaster to alter his moderation policies, and I honestly beleive the best solution to this is to have a little self control by the regular posters, and not 'hijack' serious threads. This will save putting extra work on Simon (cool name ) and his moderators.

Dave TS,

Half way in between... muprious or serpet, your choice

SimonM

Ps AWD, how did you get your post so high?

Thumbs up

The combination of

- serious issues (e.g. zero tolerance, fuel costs and other political debates that affect us)
- technical info. (e.g. Stef's engine failure thread)
- humour (missing P1WR already!)
- etc etc etc

makes Scoobynet what it is, and I love it!

Webbie, your Muppetise and Re-instate idea sounds fine, but won't it result in a lot of work for you and your team?

Perhaps you could leave to the thread starter to either bring the thread back on topic themselves or request a Muppetise and Re-instate action from the moderator.

Solved!

SimonM

Here are a few thoughts - not meant to provoke or annoy...

If you weren't angry then fair enough - but the tone of your post made it sound (to me anyway) as if you were very annoyed at having "these muppets" as you called them hijack your post.

I understand that you posted a question with real concerns about your car, but if you do enjoy reading the banter of Dave and Sunil in other forums, you would know that they attack each other (in jest) for no reason at all. Taking this into account, and being as you are familiar with their postings I would have thought that you could have tried to get the thread back on course (if you were still concerned about the problem that you posted about).

I am sorry if I have come across as trying to shut you up - this was definitely NOT my intention.

What I was trying to say was that most people know about Dave, Sunil and the banter between them. If you try to get your thread back on course and fail - then fair enough - blast at them with whatever posts you want. But without you saying anything they wouldn't have reaslied that you were so annoyed. Many people get their threads moved way off the initial post topic - most do not get very annoyed.

Maybe this assumption is flawed, but I think that a lot of people don't feel as strongly as you do. Maybe people should assume that the poster will get annoyed, but in the meantime if the poster doesn't say anything this will just keep repeating itself.

If you want to get your point across the best way would be to tell the people who hijack your thread about your annoyance as and when they do it - on that thread itself.

Just a thought.

I am not trying to be difficult - I just think that there are a variety of points here. Maybe it would be best if Dave and Sunil added to this - then you guys can discuss it and find a solution.

Regarding my no. of posts - that would be due to a combination of quite a few boring days at work and enjoying chatting with lods of people on Scoobynet.

Right,

Dave offered help to Simons problem. However it was flawed as the Blitz isnt an oiled filter - i know because i had one!. Being it was Dave, i had to reply out of custom in the usual way - apologies if you got upset.

A long time ago on Scoobynet a bird called Penni used to post, if she even posted that her suspension was squeaking, there would be 1,000 posts and 2,000 guys ready to help her out. At around the same time i wanted help with a ding in my roof and only 1 person bothered to post - go figure!!!!, change your ID to "SimoneM" and see how helpful people are in future!

As for the banter, well i think you should have expressed more of a concern and me and Dave would have left you alone, as AWD said.

This is a more light-hearted BBS than 22b.com, perhaps serious technical issues are better served there where no one has a life/sense of humour and you only see about 1 new post every 6 months!

The reason your MAF failed is probably due to excess vibration caused by incorrect fitting of the said filter. Hotfilm units are very sensitive anyhow. I ran mine for many miles with no problems, i only recently swapped it for HKS due to concerns over filtration levels and no other reason.
