Next one for serious anglers only then
Main Lake Info
This complex has 3 lakes - The Square, Main and match lake.
The Square is mainly Carp, ranging upto and over 30lb, and also has match fish.
The main lake has everything in there
The Match lake as the name suggests has mainly match fish in there.
Easy to get to, plenty of parking and some good catches are being had

Now if you have the same amount of fish in a 1acre by 1acre and 10ft deep then its exactly the same for everyone. beginners and pro's alike.
A bigger lake doesn't mean that a serious angler is gonna catch just as much as a begginer. This is where i find it a better place to fish, as you know they are there, but don't know what size they are, or if they are in your swim.

If you more serious anglers want to have a challenging days fishing, as the last few comments suggest, then thats obviously fine. The point I was making is that if organising an open event with mixed abililities, then I feel you should cater for all, it is no fun for the novice sitting there with nothing happening all day.
Also, as we all know, no ESC event is complete without a huge amount of banter. Having , in the past, fished at many more serious waters, I know how that could be frowned apon by other serious anglers.
Cornelius, will be good to see you at an ESC fishing event
I don't care where it is - I'll fish anywhere.
Saturday was a good day, good atmosphere - and personally i think if the atmosphere is good and friendly, it shouldn't matter where we fish. For me at least (having not really met any of you until Saturday), it was a good opportunity to finally A) meet you all whilst B) doing something that I enjoy...... other than driving the scoob LOL!
I'm sure at the next one (which I hope will be soon
) if there are some folks there with maybe not as much experience - we're all on hand to share "some" tactics!!!

It just got to me that John had organised this event, and the choice of venue was taken out of his hands which IMO wasn't fair on John, hence me backing out.
Also, IMO, Gooner
has the right attitude to fishing, it don't matter if you don't catch, it's the taking part of the event with friends, having a good time and chilling out.
I'm not a serious angler anymore, I sold all my carp gear and now only have a Daiwa Sensor match rod with my old faithful Mitchell sport reel and a small tackle box. My aim when I go fishing is to chill out, if I'm with friends, I don't care if I blank, it's the atmosphere that counts.

Looks like everyone had a good time and that is the aim of the game. The more people that can enjoy this sport the better it is for everyone..
As long as the next one is after i get back from my holidays then put me down for it. The best thing is i'm taking my fishing gear to Menorca with me.
Cheers

could be tempted another time. i haven't fished for ages. have both carp and match rods. would need a little help in sorting out the rigs etc as it's been about 10 years lol.
night fishing is superb too. i used to fish in stanford / corringham. i think it was in herd lane? crate of beers, something to cook some beans on and a great night can be had for little expense.

bar last weekend, have never been fishing in my life. but thanks to the guys there had a great day. Now night fishing could interest me.....how many fish can you catch when you cant even see your rod?! he he
lol. it's the banter with night fishing that makes it worth going.
last time i went there was a thunder storm and 2 of us were sitting under a tree, inside an open face tent on a metal sun lounger with 13 ft of carbon fibre rod in our hands

Matt, you must mean Woody's (Cobblers Mead it was once called). That is where I do most of my fishing. Had this out a couple of months ago. Wish I could get there more often though. Once a month if I am lucky
