Clarkson must have got it wrong then-he said Avgas. Maybe he meant Avtag.

Anyway, what is the difference between the real north pole, and magnetic north pole? 20 miles tops?

It's more like 5-6 hundred miles.

Awwww man, we have been sold out short

They should have shown a compass wiggling all over the place instead of a boring Sat Nav display

Let's see if we can make them do it again

Yeah, no point if you cant use a resolution more than 1680x1050. The 1080p torrent is so flooded with feejits (some probably superseeding with their upload limits throttled to the minimum ) that its ground to a pathetic snail's pace...not good for a 7gig torrent

Thankfully, there is a 720p version out thats 2gig, which as of posting is chugging along lovely (seeing the feejits downloaded the 1080 version have yet to notice, so its only being used by people who actually share bandwidth )...downloaded it in 3hours 55mins...compared to the 40+odd hours it would have taken to d/l the 1080.

Seeing that I'm using this to refine my gfx bugs on my otherwise superfly PC which will be uplinking from the PC to my HD LCD TV (alas, only 720p), I have good reason to d/l the HD version.

And before anyone ask me where to DL it: use google.....thats what I did!

I doubt it. Thinking about it, most people with little knowledge of aviation tend to pick up on the term AVGAS and assume all aircraft run on it which is why even the greenest PPL has it drummed into him what the difference is. The difference between AVGAS and Jet A1 being the same difference between petrol and diesel.

That is true of course, and Avtag which is a jet fuel has a fair proportion of petrol mixed in it while Avtur is mostly Kerosene and has a higher specific gravity. Avtag is considerably less resistant to fire as you might expect. We were able to use either in our aircraft but Avtur would give more miles per gallon since it was more dense and packed a higher amount of energy per unit of volume.

I wonder what it was that Clarkson really had mixed with the diesel to stop it from solidifying.

Jet A1. As long as they didn't mix in too much they would have benefited from the fuel's lack of emulsion at lower temperatures whilst the diesel's lubricating qualities looked after the engine.
