Default new udate 21st october

right been back in the garage and managed to progress the project on. then got a big set back.all will be revealed.
waiting for parts thought i would find something to do. take the old decals off the front bumper which is getting painted.

the front bumper

needs preparing for paint will be getting done by neil at elcilpse motor bodies
got the new perrin anti roll bar 25mm fitted

starting fitting the new intercooler pipework the rampod induction kit

that fitted ok intercooler fitted ok no problems yet

the pipe work was tight and a bit of a battle but no problems yet!

still going ok wasnt blown away on the finish on the pipework but still carried on fitting the kit.
things were starting to get difflecult rubbing issues that wont resolve etc

starting fitting drivers side when the problems started, there was no way that the pipework would fit tried every combination you could think of, but no way would it fit.
contacted andy taylor MD of AET turbos and he said he would come over with another kit on saturday and give me a hand swoping them over. i was grateful i was dealing with a company that does treat their customers right. but had something on so i went over to andys on the monday.
we checked every piece of the kit. andy had got it touch with hyperflow the makers. all the pipework was exactly the same in the new kit. i was looking at andys show stand and noticed that the end pieces on the intercooler were bigger and slightly angled this was the only difference. so he swopped everything all the pipework and the intercooler. i also got the CHESS chassis enhancement and strength subframe which is for the 06 onwards but fits the 05 a treat.
got back home and fitted the new intercooler and pipework in twenty minutes.

what a differce the angles on the intercooler were the difference and the fit is great.

the chess unit inplace

adds a lot of strength up front but is not standard on the 05
all the cooler pipework fitted this the side that would not fit

no rub issues

the full intercooler fitted

as you can see from the picks it looks the dogs the only issue is the pipework its supposed to be handpolished but if i showed this car i would be laughed at
so all the pipework is off and in the hands of r+s electroplating in manchester who are doing the polishing for me. andy from AET turbos is taking it up with hyperflow. right short break to upload some more pics.

Interesting set of pics and parts!
What are the subframe spacers to add to the chassis alignment?
Are the Perrin 'ALK' mounts poly bushes or real bearings?

the subframe spacers are part of the PSRS kit the spacers start largest at rear and decrease further front you get. i take it as all part of the realignment.

stainless steel bushing and harder poly bushes upgrade nice bit of kit

could of fit the perrin subframe. but had already powder coated the original which ih truth weighs nowt

Thanks. It was the spacers I was most interested in. Must find the Perrin site to check.
I have a 'rubber-free' chassis bar the engine and box mounts. Sure does stiffen things up nicely.

cheers for the comments read your project on the dash top stuff. i am taking to the next level, which is what its all about.

now you mention it it sort off didnt work out if you know what i mean. got the frames done scooby blue or close. and it went all right with the red. but i had forgot about the suspension being green. the hubs and the calipers are getting done red. and the disc bell will be red as well. the wheels are getting powder coated white. so hopefuly it should work out allright. it shows on big projects things slip through. but i will get there. i can always do the suspension blue or red. or yellow

Default update 28 th oct

i have been working my but off in the garage. its bloody freezing but i acheived what i wanted the car back on wheels
start to put passenger side together

love the tein stuff real quality

got the wheel on the drivers side then realised it was the wrong side wheel. but im only pushing the car out of the garage for now.

feels good to see the wheels back on

top pic of the mono flex

still struggling in a small untidy garage

reassemble of the hub only temp for now
got the front strut brace on nice bit of kit. tip on 05 sti scoobys. you dont need the bracket they send you. just take out the 2 bolts holding the servo pipe on pull the pipe out of the way. fit the strut brace slip the pipe back under it and replace the 2 10mm bolts.

really nice kit

hubs going together well. nice and colourful

fronk links perrin

backplate looks better

passenger side built up wheel on

drivers side

on its wheels dropped the front 25mm

lots and lots to do under here yet

first time to see the flocked door panels outside

looks really good in normal light

still loads to do but i can really crack on now

another shot of half done interior

the beast emerges

rights thats me for now freezing cold. but really pleased with the car 25mm drop. beast.
cheers mick

Wasnt keen on the coloured powdercoat mate, i would of gone for something like gunmetal or other similar dark clean colour. Or as originally posted the blue flock.

As for my stuff mate. i have a 2.5 build ongoing at the moment. Its too much to run as a thread due to parts not all arriving at once due to the massive cost of such a setup. Not to mention my FMIC, TMOC, carbon Recaro etc etc.

Should be good once its all done and mapped

Mick.......do you not know.........blue and green should never be seen unless there's a colour in between!!
You'd best get something pink (cerise) slipped in there!!!

Well done on the project so far mate, it's looking like it will be a superb looking motor when it's finished. I'm sure every part will not be to everyone's tastes, but so what eh?
You can't please all of the people all of the time, but you can please some of them, some of the time.

Looking forward to your next installment. By the way...........I want your intercooler!!!

Hi Mick. hope your well my friend.

Was down at AET today trying to find some time to fit my shabby in comparison 3 Door cosworth project in, As you Say Andy is a top bloke indeed, he put me onto this thread.

What can I say mate, absolutely stunning, the powder coating really is superb, without going into the flock, really does look like a fantastic job mate., just settled down with a cup of coffee to catch up on this.

Hope all is well, and again superb thread mate.
