The engine does blow with a bad gear choice.

Giles, is your time with the wheel? if so !
Scoobynet is the best though lol

Yep its with a wheel.

Edcase, with ABS off. I have found reducing the brake pressure under tuning slightly helps to stop the wheels locking up under heavy left foot braking.

I've blown a few engines in career mode under braking and down shifting to early

Kudos to you then!
I find you can stop quicker/shorter distance if you don't have ABS on. It just takes a bit of gentle squeezing of the trigger (or toes for you wheel users).
I thought with time trials the performance damage was off? ok you can spin and knock your spoilers and stuff off but it didn't show up on the damage indicator? Certainly didn't for me last night when I kept going wide on that long sweeper (or getting that down hill S bend wrong) and smacking into the barrier!

Scoreboard for Page 3
Forza Motorsport 2 - Forza 2 Scoreboard

Ben picked a very good track, the tiniest of mistakes and the lap is ruined, yet the urge to carry just that little bit more speed through the corners is just so tempting!

I think the challenge needs updated slightly.

First one to bag the World No. 1 slot!!

Not sure about that - I was in an online lobby the other night and we had damage switched to cosmetic only. I smacked a barrier on nordschleife in a porsche and completely obliterated the front spoiler, the rest of the lap was a bit hairy due to lack of downforce. So I think you can knock damage off, but it only applies to engine, brakes, steering, suspension & gears - it still affects aerodynamics.

Is the car the No.1 guy used any quicker than the Audi though?
I'm not sure how much quicker I could go, with the Mugello challenge I think I could have gone faster with the TCS aid on but with this one, I don't think any of the aids would help my time.

You need to drive this one like yvan muller, attack the curbs like an angry touring car driver, but keep it from sliding. I was three tenths up on two occassions yesterday, but messed up the last chicane exit on both counts!

I think there is also more to be had frrom tweaking my car setting further.

If I crashed and damaged either spoiler I'd restart as I'm sure you lose downforce.

Hmmm my fastest time was with a cosmetically damaged car.
Problem with my 360 is that once I set a fast time I have to end the race to upload it for fear of the thing freezing up and loosing the time. Thus I can't really [madonna]get into the grove[/madonna] so to speak.

If I had hair I`d be pulling it out! I`m so frustrated. I`m going slower not faster, I think I`ll leave it alone for a while and find something constructive to do to

I have turned it off and walked away and not sure when I will go back to it as it got me very very frustrated Up until that last s bend I am taking over half a second off my time which would get into the 52's but that s bend kills my time every time and just can not get the right line or gear through it.
have you tried watching any of our ghost laps?

52.622 now, had to lift at the top of the sweeper cause I was heading off line. Was in front of the fastest Audi at that point as well
Can't believe you've had the patience to do 130 laps mate!

Ranked 11th in the world now
Although I take some moral victory in being the highest ranked person without and aids!

I find ghost cars are major distractions, to the point where I start racing and out breaking them lol so I have them off now. However, I do turn on/off the ghosts during racing at the corners where I see I need improvement

I have the same problem in Multiplayer as I do in TT mode. The ghost/other car gets in the way of my braking points.

best example was being stuck on squirrels bumber in the M3 and had to keep backing off becuse his car was filling my screen.

Not bad for somebody who wasn't sure about getting Forza and certainly wasn't getting the wheel!

Superb work

Cheers fellas.

I still think someone might beat it, as I say I was a 10th up at the timecheck just before the long right-hander, so it's definitely do-able, but I am just happy to have topped a global leaderboard.

You definitely need to sort your setup out for this, mainly gearing, but also front downforce, slight rear bias on the power and a bit more front left negative camber.

I am off on holiday friday morning, so that will likely be my last crack at it as I'll be packing etc. so you have a double motivation of winning the challenge but also being no.1 in the world!

I am not back then til the 18th (on my mtb in the alps ) so whoever comes 2nd will have to choose the winner (of course, assuming someone doesn't pip me by then!).
