Scoobynet Forza 2 Weekly Challenge - Week 2
Well unexpectedly I have the privilege of choosing week two's challenge. I decided it should be something simple and fair for everyone to have a crack so.... 4 wheel drive for the car.... but sticking to R4 class... and another short track....
Car Audi Number 1 S4
Track Road Atlanta Short.
Seemed like a good track as a very long straight but a couple of chicanes so a big trade off of downforce vs straighline speed. I did do a few laps earlier and while i know there is a lot that I can gain initial time sits at 00:55.351
Good luck everyone!!!!

That last bend can feel great when it you go flat out through it, but has the potential to go very very wrong if you hit the inside kerb too much!

Good choice Ben Though till this morning I`d never been round that track and I had to unlock the car first Put in 7 or 8 laps, my second lap being the quickest, 55.8 ish, I knew I could go quicker, played about with car set-up, a big mistake as I was 2 secs slower, back to default set-up. I was getting used to the track by now having done 20+ laps or so and came away with a 54.809. I`m really quite pleased with that but I`m sure that time will be slaughtered sometime soon

Should be pretty close between everyone on this event - there's only 3 possibly even 2 braking points.

That little righthand flick at the top of the hill (turn 3 I think) could be the key to the lap, you can cut it quite a lot before you get a penalty, plus the amount of penalty you get is only small, so do you risk taking the small penalty in order to maximise your overall lap time?!...
If I ever win I'm gonna pick Sebring club, love that track (well Sebring in general).

I think you're right, but its a bit unsighted, you need the cone to know where it is, but cutting the corner off means you knock it halfway down the track...

14th fastest time in the world on that track
I reckon with a bit of a play with the setup i can knock another half second off that, I was 3 tenths up at one stage and messed the exit of the chicane

did you cut the corner?
I'm guessing yes, I'm currently 1.8 secs away from the track record and I don't see anywhere else to make it up...

Not really, no. If you cut the corner I find you then take too much momentum into that off-camber left, which then in turn messes up your line for the dipping right. You definitely need to do this one in manual, dab the brakes, drop two cogs and throw it over the curb, you'll be amazed how much you can make it stick!
Try watching my ghost. As I say I reckon I can get 0.5 off that by the time I go away on Friday. I doubt we'll see a 51.something though, but I could be wrong!!!

Early days yet, bear in mind the first day of last weeks' challenge we were scrabbling around to get in the 56's.
My time is well achievable, that was my first attempt, total of probably 10-15 laps max, with a couple of car tweaks after about 3 laps then another 5 laps.
