I Guess it depends how you work it out? If you include all of the development costs, labour, planning, testing, re-testing Etc, to get to where we are now, probably in excess of £60K.
There is a lot of "over engineering" involved for its current "low boost" state though (I think we calculated the cost of the fuel system alone to circa £3K).

0-60 will be enormously limited by traction and requirement for gear shifts, but in the sub 2.5sec areas I guess?

WoW! I really don't know where to begin describing that!

Yeah, I guess that's true, just out of interest, take a browse through "the knowledge" section at the back of EVO mag, see how the power figures stack up......
Then increase them to take account of the lower weight of this car compared to any other similarly powered cars.

Who wants to post the comparative power to weight/ BHP per ton, per litre Etc type figures when compared to something like (for example) a Bugatti Veyron.
All this and still with Air con, and ABS intact as well eh?

Mmmm i'd say its quicker than my atom in a straight line, although around about the same once rolling... 4wd of the line makes for a good advantage, i can't get full throttle until say 50mph with a second gear start... but the car should feel and will be awsome...!!! doubt it would be anything like as quick around a track, but thats mainly due to weight, trust me 500kg corners much sharper than 1250+... but on the road I'd say nothing will stay with it... simple... it will pretty much be as quick anything will every be on the road, 4wd and a good setup is quicker than a light car on the road without a doubt...! my car feels insane on the road and I' expect that will feel the same... (be carefull **** happens quickly that that kind of power) only it will cover round better, light cars don't do bumps very well...
so all in, if its well sorted ,pretty much a very scary and aswome car.. some pics woul be nice mate..!

top job with engine bay.... sweet!
clean those caps though...

btw its round about 430bhp per tonne and 378ftlb per tonne... thats 60bhp per tonne more that a new 911 turbo and a Lambo LP640, both monster quick cars...!

I've seen the work you guys have done on Ian's (KnobbySP1) car. When he said his was 'conservatively' mapped to 500 I thought 'What could it do ?' I guess this is the answer. I've always focussed on handling to get a good road car, but I'd love to know what this sort of power is like to drive. Are you constantly on edge with it ready to spit you off the road, or have you sorted the chassis and suspension to match the power to make it fluid, controlled and progressive near the limits ?

Quality work

How about reliability, these are daily drivers, have they had any issues or increased service intervals ?? just curious as i'm keen to get this done but dont want a re-build every other month.
Thanks
Chris.

Question

Bloody impressive results.

Sorry I this has been asked in this thread: What and whose dyno was it run on? And what is the full spec?

I guess it's like anything really, after a while with most types of power available to you, you become "accustomed" to how it's likely to behave, and intuitevley adapt to suit? (You swear a lot as well).

Off boost, it's just what you'd want it to be, sharp and torquey.

Brakes and some suspension stuff have been done already and it's OK for road use. We're going to need to do some suspension/damper and struts work on it, but that's being discussed with a suspension manufacturer at present.

Hi Chris.

As for reliability, we've not "broken" one yet (touch wood), but while these things are built to withstand way more than we're running through it at the moment (these current power/torque figures are on our "low boost" setting), it by no means makes them "unbreakable".

So far though we are at 100% reliability. Servicing is a notably different affair as you might expect, these things need regular scrutiny at least to keep an eye on anything minor which may develop if left unattended into a future problem, most of that can be done by the owner/driver though and problems are rare.

Oil consumption needs to be monitored along with other levels and servicing needs to be effectively halved in all critical areas to account for the increased loads and stress ancillary parts are likely to see.
