I said to someone else today who was pushing me towards the TA. The TA is for big boys with big chequebooks, we all know the biggest chequebook wins. My car is also a road car with an interior, knowing me, i dont see the point of entering unless i have a shot at winning. Id want to strip the **** off it and wind it up to over 600bhp.
If i cant do it properly i wont do it at all.
2nd place is the first loser, and i know i wont even be there
Yep, just a fast road/track, ring car mate.

I think you'll find the biggest chequebook didn't win the series anyway, although that would have been the car we would have all taken home given the choice.
3rd place was won in the club class by a pretty low budget car...
The first two being pro class boys who ticked the wrong box on the form!

Gotta remember fella, im still only 23. Its enough to afford to build the car to the spec i want it to, let alone the cost of racing it too. You of all people know what it costs to build a fully forged 2.5 with worked heads and cams leave alone the price of a turbo, fuel system, clutch etc etc.
Funk me rods and pistons are £1500 alone, block and crank are £1600, £180 for bearings, £170 for oil pump, £160 for head stsuds, £1000 cams, £1500 for turbo, £1300 for a clutch, £400 for valves, £1125 for an intercooler, Plus valve springs, seats, retainers, gaskets, baffled sump, portwork .... the list goes on.
To me the TA an expense for a half hearted effort. If it was a stripped out, caged 650bhp animal i could see your point, but it has a radio and air con and im no "Ari Vatters''.
I dont see the point of doing something half heartedly.. rather not do it at all.
If i get the 6 numbers up on sat, i'll enter the TA

But im building the car for me, not for anyone else. I want it to be what i want it to be, not because i have anything to prove.

And yes I do know the cost!
TA rules are almost completely open, even in club. but this was always intended for people with high performance modded road cars, rather than out and out race cars. I guess in this respect it has lost it's way a little, as next year both Pro and club will be full of 'race' spec cars.
As for not being 'Ari Vatters', you do sign off as faster than you think you are, so......

Ok mate!
