Got my new Hyperflow oil cooler today,

Designed to be either front mounted but also comes with brackets to be top mounted under the stock scoop once im runing a FMIC.

The FMIC will happen after WRC Germany but i still think id like it mounted behind my grille.

Looks pretty now but ripe for a bit of painting and polishing IMO

What do ya think ???

Frayz

You would only benefit in having one of these for sustained Track use wouldn't you ?

Yes mate, i only had a temp issue on track, on the road i cant sustain the boost/rpm's to generate excessive oil temps.

This is a thermostatic variant though. This means that the oil cooler is only used when the engine is up to sufficient temp that cooling is required. That way the cooler is not trying to cool cold oil.

Another advantage is the simple fact that you have more oil in the system in general.

I was thinking of a nice red STI in the middle of the core to grin through my grille

Its not gonna happen over night this one fella as its seriously expensive.

I do have a few ancilleries already and my FMIC the way though.

Just thought i should stop messing, someone refered to my car the other day as the "Mocom monster"..

I think its about time i made it into the monster it should be.

Well with the car gone to Simpsons to have its new exhaust system made, the parts pile inevitably grows.

Todays delivery was my intercooler.

APS DR725
(Got for a steal from a guy in the US with only 1000 miles use on it )

Make no mistake guys, this thing is absolutely massive! The core alone without end tanks is 29" long, 9" high and a massive 4.5" thick!!

It weighs in pretty lardy too, if nothing else will help with the cars "turn in" PMSL!!

It yet to be painted and the stainless pipework will get a polish. I also need to get my other bumper painted, que ABW

Enjoy

Indeedy, you do get what you pay for.

The quality of the pipework is very nice indeed. I was going to have them all powder coated black. But the polished stainless and pretty tig welding is pushing me towards keeping them as they are

You also get a beautiful stainless slim-line coolant overflow reservoir. This is needed to make way for the huge pipework.
Should all be rather dandy once its done

not going to heat wrap the pipework? thought this would be ideal to reduce charge temps or does it not make enough difference?

Only wrapping the one that goes over the turbocharger mate. The others are fine. There will be a good flow of air in the engine bay now with the OEM cooler gone. The oil cooler that will take its place isnt as big as the stock intercooler.

thing is which to go for? at least then i can start to sort the funds out. i don't see the point of going part way with with something like the ecu. although i'd be happy to get the car to around the 300bhp mark, so i don't think i'll need anything that flash.

may have to sell the jato to put the funds towards it. i never use it so may as well.
