Low pressure is exactly what you want. The low pressure helps draw the air from the cooler with the high pressure forcing it through at the front.
Porsche have been using this design since the year dot and the new Nissan GTR also has its oil cooler venting into the front nearside wheel well.
There is no doubt that it works very very well. Certainly well enough for my road car.

Good stuff chaps - lots of thought going into it! I presume the top mount that you sold is the least effective, then the front mount that I have behind the grill and this bumper mounted low pressure position is top dog..?
Sounds like the exhaust hangers were bored just hanging around.
Frayz - thanks for the pointer on the oil temp. No idea how to move it though

Ross the TM oil cooler works really well and is a good bit of kit. However i decided i wanted to use that space for something else and didnt want the oil cooler there. However the HF cooler is quite a cumbersome item and i could not fit it in the front of the car. So hence the swap to the Setrab item.
The Setrab should be more efficient anyway.

Injector Dynamics 1000cc injectors on their way to add to the pile of parts.
These should take care of the 35R assisted drink problem that the new motor will have.
She going to make George Best look like a T-Totaler!

Frayz, I've just been poncing over at 22b.com and read this from Andy F:
"i always thought it was best not to have a poilshed like surface in the inlet and keep it kinda rough, no?"
"Thats the case for wet flow such as a carburettor or single point injection, not injection at the valve."
Made me think about you and your porting and if you wanted to port the IM whilst it was off.

Ollie,
I was looking at the intake manifold regarding porting the other day. It already matches up with everything flow wise, and i have already cleaned out any casting imperfections in the runners that i can get to.
If i could, i would extrude hone it. But to be honest i dont think im likely to gain much from it at the mid 500bhp levels.
All my intake areas have a 120 grit finish, while all my exhaust ports are mirror polished.

Manual mix mate.i'll just add it in the tank like i always used to.
Its no hardship for me, wellit never used to bother me anyway. lol.
Looking forward to getting it built now. Parts are arriving thick and fast.
I can now wholeheartedly say that i have only 2 large financial outlays left to get her running. The fittings for the fuel/breather system. These will all be braided hose with aeroquip. And the management/mapping. This will be done by JGM hopefully and willbe mapped on Syvecs.
I dont really want to fork out for Syvecs, but i cant come this far and then cut a corner on the management.
Still need to decide on engine colour scheme too haha

Agreed, not the time to start rushing or cutting corners.
I'd always go with black for the large sections like inlet manifold, covers etc... Sure you will do something tasteful and not things like camo hoses..

Damn,i best scrap the camo hoses idea then.
PMSL
I want to keep it OEM looking but the wrinkle red is no longer available in the correct shade. So i may and up doing it black. Cant decide on wrinkle or gloss black for the cam covers. I did think about getting the manifold polshed, but not sure yet. I think the boost pipework will be going gloss black too. Again, undecided at the mo.

Some thing like this..
I think David at APi has crinkle red, there was a car there a few weeks back that looked like the red had been done recently. Gloss black / crinkle black also looks

I wish I had the cash for the Syvecs but really wanted mine back on the road. Just waiting these Simtek updates now...

Did another job today that ive been putting off for ages. measured up for the oil cooler so i cant do any more with that till ive made up some brackets etc. So i started fitting my Aerocatches.
Didnt get these complete yet as i had to go out. But the bulk of the dicking around is done. These wont be 100% installed as i want to have the bonnet painted once im finished so will bond them in for a final finish once its been painted.
The under skin requires finishing but the top skin is done and the strike pins are in.
Naturally i took some pics along the way
Little tool i made to make this job a shtload easier.

Knocked up a little bracket for the cooler today. This will be welded to the underside of my offside inner wing, seam sealed and painted. Cut some rubber tabs to dampen it too.
Sorry for cak phone pics.
