Hmmm, wonder if its worth swapping?
I really dont want to do any more messing about with it. Once ive built it id rather fit everything up, have it mapped and then just enjoy it.
It seems the cars spends more time in development having things changed and tested that im not actually getting to enjoy it. I want it done, finalised and finished so i can get some proper use out of it.

as you say figures aren't everything it's how it drives that matters and i'm sure Zak will be able to make the most of your current setup when he maps it Joined: Nov 2003

I'd agree with Ian, my wagon has spent so much time off the road over the last 18months I've hardly driven it...yours going to be pretty blooming rapid anyway

And lets be frank, if at some point you then felt the need to upgrade, it's hardly a lot of work to change a turbo over is it?

Its not hard no, and yes it will work on the 7cm housing but it will be restrictive on the increased breathing of the 2.5.
Ive gone to the effort of making everything else as best i can, i want to make the most of it and not waste the uber strong internals by not using the turbos possible potential.
Having put in the effort to do it right, i cant be arsed with funking about swaping bits any more.

Then why pose the question, just fit the bigger HTA Green?
having recently driven another modded scoob with a 2.1 and 360ish bhp, and bigger turbo than mine, I know which set up I would prefer for road use, and indeed around the lanes i would argue the responsive/torquey option would be quicker!

I wouldnt say the HTA is not responsive though - I can get 2 bar at 3000 if I want it.
The 7cm will run out of puff at the top end - if you are worried about it then just change the exhaust side for the 8cm.

I wanna swap it out for the 8cm from the word go but Zak wants to test the 7cm to see how far it will go.
All im saying is, i cant be arsed to start swapping things once ive got it all nicely fitted, and aligned on the bench before fitting the motor back in. Only to have to remove the turbo again shortly after.
Either way, we both know it will be so much better on the 8cm, so id rather do that from the outset.

i've always been from the school of drive what you've got and build up to and beyond what the cars capable of and then improve it....
but i also buy into the fact that you will driver better and faster if you have confidence in your car... hence the desire to get it right first...
either way i know you will enjoy the fruits of your labour when you can really push it and the track is the perfect place to do it... you can see, feel and just know each time you get a bend right/wrong, etc.
Plus more often than not you can gauge yourself against another driver or car and get great satisfaction from beating/matching or just improving against them...

Crap phone pic, but i got some time free to start stripping the engine bay tonight.
All openings are capped to prevent any contamination, all wires are zip tied and all multiplugs have been bagged and zipped to prevent any water ingress.
Still waiting on an engine crane but im off the the WRC Germany next week so it wont come out before then anyway.
But at least you can see ive done something... the bulllet has well and truely been bitten!!

Frayz, have you sorted your KW's yet mate, only I was in Elite on saturday and they sell KW's.
Don't know if your having bespoke made but could be worth talking to them
