Do it yourself ...... tin of BRILLO mixed with warm water - it will all come off.
Nice Polish with Autoglym ExtraGloss and jobs a good 'un
Or pay £150 for a pro job ...... thats small change compared to an angry neighbour!

Agreed - he might just think that anything that doesn't come off with a quick sponge down means a respray.
A clay bar and a bucket of clean water is all you need. Or failing that, you do have a sander...

Sounds like hes pulling a fast one as the dust from sanding doors will wash off,i bet it's a right old shed hes got and it's had dodgy paint for years, dont be suckered in and wash it yourself or get the stuff off it to a lab to find out what it is.

Law of common decency If you could catch all those swines that had dented your car in the car park you'd expect them to sort surely?
There's no way this isn't going to budge. Decent shampoo lambswool mit hot water and a bit of elbow grease and you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. If all else fails claybar and detailer will shift it (£20.00) Make sure you only do the affected areas though and leave the rest to him.
Good luck.

Hi,
Basically i've sanded down all my interior doors with a power sander round the back of the house but yesterday my neighbour came round to show me his black car which has all white flakes of paint on. I wouldn't have thought it would have travelled that far but i must admit i took a lot of paint off and there were 7 doors. Its not illegal to sand doors in your own back yard is it, but the problem is it wont come off. Its not dust, but small flakes. He wants to get it professionally polished.
2 points.
1. I get on great with him and he's done me no end of favours.
2.I'm as tight as a gnats chuff, it'd take an army to get money out of me.
opinions.

If its only dust, a good pressure washer would remove it no problem, if neither of you own one go to a petrol garage and use theirs wont cost more than a couple of quid. Dan.

His car wasn't in your backyard though ... bits have flown from your backyard on to his property & wrecked his car. Pay up you moaning git!
TX.

I'll add he's a typical retired person. Nowt to do but moan, but having said that he's been really good to me. The problem is he's really **** about his car and even suggested a respray. Mine's covered too but i dont care.
As i said, its my back yard,if he wants to leave his car in the way tough luck. I'm always up for a fight, the problem is we get on so well.

Well, there really can't be any more advice coming that we haven't heard all ready.
So what you doing? Can we look forward to you being on the next series of "Neighbours from HELL"

Paul - I think the expectation on you to pay anything is a bit weird... You may be an all round decent chap but you do not control the wind!
I certainly wouldnt have offered to pay for anything, but as the crooner is crooning I would find a cheap local valeter and get him to give it the once over / hand wash and wax for £20...
I cant believe that the paint from your doors wont simply wash off his car, in fact, I am suprised a rainstorm wont sort it out to be honest...
Hand wash by valeter is being reasonable - if he wants more he is being unreasonable, your conscience is clear, so simply punch him in the ear if needs be

Bloody hell. SNet is gives the "impression" it's full of some rather nasty, selfish and downright scum (I wonder if you'd all do in real life what you say on here?).
Why on earth wouldn't you WANT to get it sorted for him? Never mind what this chaps "expectations" are, it should be about your obligation as a decent neighbour.
If I'd done this to one of my neighbours cars, I'd be right round there sorting it out myself. I'd try a pressure washer first - if that failed, I'd get it booked into a valeters. For gods sake, this is such as pointless thread - do people have no common decency any more?

None, but you've obviously caused damage to someones car and admitted it. If it were me and you wouldn't pay to have it put right to my satisfaction, I'd consult a solicitor to see if there was any legal way I could make you pay for any repairs - even if it were as little as a good clean and polish.
Not being funny but its your responsibilty.

You can't put a price on good relations with your neighbours.
Get a competitive quote for a professional polish and offer to pay!
You may not have intended it, but it is your fault, and SN users are hardly in a position to criticise someone for being picky about their car's appearence!

Just nip round with a jet wash, and give it a good blast, then clean and wax it, it will take you half a day max
It wont of dont any damage, might just need a little elbowe grease than normal.
You must be one tight bugger, especially as u say he's done you 'no end' of favours
Get it sorted you scrooge

He will have broken some law, or "tort" or whatever. Its so long since I did any of this. Legally, you are liable, and he can pursue you for all the costs of repair, his time, his legal costs and ask for compensation on top.
You may have taken some care to avoid the damage, but clearly not enough. Accidents happen, but that still does not mean you are liable.
I accidentally put a ball through a neighbours greenhouse. I took precautions too, by putting up a really high fence to stop that from happening. My fault?, hell yeah. I didn't wriggle or whine, I just fixed it. I didn't just pay, I actually got the glass and fitted it. Why should he have to give up his time to sort my mess out?
Same here, you should be sorting it out for him if you were any sort of decent neighbour.

Go down the claybar route, I was amazed at how well this worked to get all sorts of deep set grime out of the paint on my car.
Its not worth the hassle or time in your life to argue about getting it done.
If you had not sanded your doors his car would not be damaged, its the right thing to do by putting it right.
For £20 a claybar, some elbow grease, you wont lose a neighbour.
Seems the best solution.

Its amazing how people love to give advice when its just a case of typing a few words on a keyboard with no real consequences to them. If you were actually in my shoes you wouldn't be so high handed and moral about it.
Some flakes of paint get blown approx 30 metres into next doors drive, land on his car and he suggests a RESPRAY. "What do you want me to do" i asked last night. "Lets get it sorted then we'll see" he says.
F*ck that. If he wants me to pay even a single penny he consults me first.

Tell the coffin dodger to get fecked .!!!
Cheeky old cnunt .
Give it a wash yourself, and I am sure it will come off ,if your feeling really generous, otherwise the rain will take it off.
Some people eh!!!!!
