Well I'm ready to throw in the towel and use my Scoob less. Gone are the days when it was worth the 10 mile round trip to the shops in my Scoob just to get some milk - I'll take the wife's Yaris now. When she lets me LOL

And tbh what do I need to commute to work in a WRX wagon for? I hardly ever carry anything in it during the week anyway, it's used more for lugging furniture, going down the dump, or packing up all the family stuff when we do a long journey. So it's pretty much pointless during the week. In fact why don't I just get a bike?

I've been trying to persuade my mate (who currently has an diesel A6) to get one of those new BMW 330i models next year which can do 40mpg on an economy run. With that kind of mileage and 0-60 in 6.4 seconds it kind of makes diesels superfluous.

It just seems really stupid to be feeling pleased to get 24mpg on a motorway journey in my Scoob. I should be gutted about mpg like that at 101.9p a litre.

And then you drive it down your favourite deserted road and remember why you bought one in the first place

Exactly so. The thing is I absolutely love driving it, even just down to the shops.
