Does anyone know if the Spec D pioneer Ipod set up is only for Ipod, or will the supplied connector work with other MP3 players ?

Not sure if this helps but it has the iPod connector therefore will only work with MP3 players with said connector.

I have seen players which have connectors which look similar but I do not know if they are the same. I suspect Apple would not allow it.

The set up that is installed in the spec.D is only suitable for the ipod as it is.
The actual set up consists of a head unit and a Pioneer box of tricks which is connected to the HU and the ipod. The Pioneer item code is CD-IB100 for this box.

After having a quick look on a few car audio websites, it may be possible to remove this adaptor and change it for another that would allow most other mp3 players to work. Having had a quick glance in the relevant section, I've found this: Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. Pioneer CD-UB100 - Pioneer PIO-CDUB100 Maybe something like that would do the job..?

Best bet is to post in the car audio section as there are some knowledgeable guys in there when it comes to this..... Or you could always buy an ipod

Cheers,
Nige.

Cheers Nige, I was going to see how I get on with the Pioneer to save re-installing my 6029 DVD player. If I have to get a new MP3 connector I may as well use my 6029 while the facia is off. Cheers for your help, you answered my original question that it is an Ipod connector

PPP'd mine. Door sills. The bluetooth is sound, if you take the (considerable) time to set it up. Becomes an in-car kit - you can cycle through your ontacts using the dial. Buy an in-car charger for the phone and you are well away, and Mr Plod can do a pelican with his 3 points bill.

whack an Ipod on there aswell, and you can then start cursing the ****ty speakers that it comes with............................

Looking at maybe decatting the centre with a straight through stainless. Mind you some better fuel economy would keep the enemy's "we need a family car so YOUR Scooby can go....." propaganda down............

Bearded,

I've done the stereo upgrade in mine now, I've put a post on your thread in the ICE section with the stuff used. Top notch sound now.
How are you getting on with ppp..? After my recent prodrive tour and driving day, I'm thinking of making the leap. How many miles are you getting out of a tankful on average with ppp..?

Nige.

v8voodoo - cheers for your rekkos. Will check the sounds out.

PPP in a petrol point of view........hmmmm

excuse the gratuitous use of emoticons!

The 2.5 Sti goes through petrol almost as quick as I do Premiuim Cider with ice

Before PPP, I got around 19-20 to the gallon. That is with the wife taking it up the......... shops. And me getting moaned at about the car railing on the VERRRRRYYYY iffy road surfaces round here (Southend/Benfleet Essex to M25)
With PPP, I am happy to get 200 to a tank.

I have done some research. Around my congested town and with occasional trips to the M25 I get around 20 to the gallon.

HOWEVER

If you want to Wiseguy it - and go munch boxters/TT/Audi/Barryboy, then you can look at about 14 to the gallon.

If you really want to stick it, and race/chase motorbikes/space shuttles etc, then look for 8-10 to the gallon.

All these figures are for Optimax/ V-power. And a boot load of family-orientated guano.

With a 2.5 PPP, then the top-end is 168+. Governed at 7000-7500 RPM. Everything else (other than Evo) is governed at 155.

The car is a missile. Make sure the DCCD is on manual (unless some other scoobynetter can tell me how it works)

1st gear to 45 mph
2nd to 80
3rd to 100
4th to 130
5th??
6th??

all on private roads / airfields. Remember to let your engine idle for a good few minutes if you try this

If you want traffic light grands prix, then you will get stuffed against a barry'ed up tincan . However if you have a quarter mile plus of straight road, with no cameras or risks then there is not much under £75K that will embarass you. As the M5 I let past (he was up my ****) and followed the other day will tell you. Right up to the point he bottled it.....

The rice rocket will stuff most - if it doesnt then you know the other car is a bit special and worth at least twice yours...............

For sport, get the same daughter to point and laugh at said barryboy at the lights. Let him get away. Then maul him at leisure (if daughter still laughing then even better)

it's wrong I know, but entertainment is where you find it:-)

Had my PPP fitted before picking the car up so can not compare.

However, consumption around town with relatively normal driving is around 20+- 2 which is appalling compared with my previous WRX Classic, which had same performance and was easily mid+ 20, but once you start using 6th Gear you can get into the highish 20s without too much care and I reckon you could hit 30+ if some care was taken.

Not sure if this is anything to do with PPP but I do find it a bit disconcerting when, in certain circumstances, I start feathering the throttle and still find myself accelerating. Makes it difficult to maintain smooth progress at times. I think it is because the turbo is starting to come on song and you are getting more power feeding in than the expected lift on the throttle. Has anyone else experiencd this? Didn't get it on my WRX. (Sorry to keep on but I did enjoy my WRX and almost wish I still had it - hope the new owner is looking after it.)

I thought that when you get a remap it improves petrol consumption? The PPP is just an over priced remap after all.

Mine is currently standard as I am going the after market route when have just a year left on warranty. I have no issues now with the acceleration, but did have similar issues when I first bought the car and it had a turbosmart DV on it. Restoring the OEM sorted this. Do you have an after market DV on?

P.S. Throtteless starts will save you some fuel in traffic.

Mine had some loving today.

https://www.scoobynet.com/essex-scoo...lth-flaps.html

With regards to performance etc I am going down the remap route. It wont improve MPG unless thats your objective from a remap. After my last remap MPG went out the window, replaced by a fuel swigging relentless accelerating machine !

Not sure why I think this but I get the impression the problem isn't the PPP but the basic 2.5 STi spec.

Good bump. Didnt see the fuel discussion first time around.

After PPP fitting I get around 250-260 for 'normal' driving (have fun occaisionally, lots of normal and local driving). and if i'm on a long motorway trip (not trying to break the speed of light) I can get 300+ - not too often though!
