Some people can't understand the concept of looking after children!

Also while I think it was unwise leaving the girl it's understandable and now they are paying the price for their decision. It's very sad and it goes without saying that I hope she's found safe and well soon.

Who said anything about roaming the streets and getting involved with the wrong crowd? lol overreaction or what. As for monitoring it appears they were checking the kids every 15 mins so where you get this fantasy that the children were left alone to fend for themselves is beyond me.
Maybe if your parents had to let you see the bigger picture in the world outside your home, you wouldn't think it was full of weirdos out to get yah!!!!! lol

I'm trying to teach you about certain parenting standards...as above i wouldn't let my kid do ,likewise i wouldn't leave them alone in a house....you just can't seem to get that to sink in can you...and News Flash for ya...The world has wierdo's in it,proven every day in the news
I'd place a huge bet on that these people were better fit parents alround than the huge catalogue of low-life chavscum that bring up their beloved Britanny/Waynetta on a diet of bigmacs and pepsi with a guaranteed life of crime ahead of em.

Its a shame instead of coming across as such a paranoid geeky little twerp THAT you can't just see it as it is. The parents went on holiday, loved their kids and made the wrong decision of going out for a meal nearby whilst checking their loved ones every 15-20 mins and some sick person adbucted the kid.

Have to say at this point I am quite disappointed with the people bashing the parents. Maybe they did wrong, maybe they didn't. Who cares at the moment ? The one thing the ONLY thing that matters is that little girl. Once shes found by all means take the parents to trial, put the kids into a foster home, whatever but just imagine what they are going through right now!
Ok so you "parents" keep going on about not leaving your kids alone, fair point but can you as Parents possibly think of a worse punishment that what they must be going through now ?? Do you think they'll ever do it again ?
We dont know the parents, we dont know the real fact, what we should be offering is Support and understanding until the out come is known.

Although people will prioritise and comment on what's important to them.
Pimm, you are right. girl is the most important factor in this case. Secondly, the parents are, who have possibly learnt a lesson. Both the girl and the parents need to be re-united. If the Portugese police are making every effort to find her, good on them. Hope they find her. That is the first and foremost thing we can hope for.The kidnapper should be given a strict sentence. Parents can be penalised as well, if their negligence is proved.

From the BBC Website;
Madeleine, who turns four next Friday, was last seen by her father at about 2100 local time. When Mrs McCann went to check on her about an hour later, she found the bedroom's outside shutter and window had been opened and her daughter missing.

FFS I think there are far too much qwerty testosterone ninjas on this thread
I saw the news earlier, and they do have a suspect in mind, and reckon they could only be a few miles away
We spoke about the Ben Needham incident, and how kids that age are taken and sold![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
And someone like Ben now, would probably be no wiser as to his real history
I hope they find her, what the parents did was wrong (IMHO as a parent), and they are paying the price for that now
I have also just come back from shopping, and there was a girl in front of me at the *** counter, and she occasionally kept looking round, what I didn't realise was that she had left her baby in a buggy 'around the corner' so she didnt have to have her in the queue at the counter
we were in that queue about 5 mins, and she looked around only about 3 or 4 times, I was quite shocked when I found out she had left her baby there, as it was right by the very busy exit !!

its awful, all i keep thinking about is that poor little girl. she is with strangers in a hostile environment and must be so scared.
my daughter looked just the same as the missing girl at the same age, i cant begin to understand what the parents must be going through as well.
when ive been on holiday with my daughter i always push two chairs together so she can have a sleep in safety near me. we all make mistakes but no one cares unless something goes horribly wrong, and in this case it did![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
i am hoping and praying the little girl is returned to he parents safe and sound

ive always seen other European countries as being safer than the uk. i dont know why but this latest incident has made me think.
you lose a lot of common sense when you are on holiday. attitudes are relaxed and laid back, you generally feel 'protected' in a resort. i have been away and been told by other holiday makers that its very 'safe' for kids....
always listen to your own instincts

Anything can happen anywhere. There is nowhere safe in the world. One has to be on guard. It's far more diffiult to deal with such incidents, if they happen on a foreign land. Unfamiliarity to the language, systems, services etc. doesn't help at all. Yes, people are more relaxed and laid back on holidays. Yet, they will learn from the happenings of such kind to be more alert. I remember something like that happening on the Welsh campsite a few years ago.
I remember that my 14 yr old daughter was getting henna painted at a beauty parlour in my hometown in India last year. Adjoined to that was a male hair saloon. It was in a priviledged area of the town. The owners of the beauty studio seemed really nice but I did not leave my daughter by herself for a minute. She had travelled to India after 12 years and I did not feel relaxed with the thought of leaving there in the beauty studio by herself. Some of my relatives were to be seen off, and it clashed with the henna appointment. They were a bit upset with me that I did not leave my daughter even for half hour to attend to them. Well, tough
One has to be very careful.
Hope for the little girl's safe return.

Hopefully OUR Cops will beat a couple of confessions out some people, if not they will stick them in the slammer for a while and with our prisons like they are they will confess sooner or later.
It is very possible that this 'napping was done by foreigners. It is not the first time, and generally it is because 'they' know that they can mingle in with the rest of the foreigners, therefore increasing the chances of escaping the police......
Hopefully it will end well, and hopefully the dumbass parents will learn a lesson.
