What second car are you running?

Rover 420 SLi £350 and hasn't let me down in 14 months. So far it's cost me about £20 in bits including oil and rear pads.
205 GTi as my track car and its proved 99.9% reliable
E30 325i was used as a run around for 3 months before I took it off the road to be made into a track car
All great cars - but the Rover is the best just because of its value for money

I run a 1989 MK 2 Golf Gti 8V, very clean, got it as a cheap trade in from work, 37 - 40 MPG, (not far off double the Scooby)
Good fun to drive, bullet proof engine, I love the MK 2s so much its the 10th one that ive owned.

Ive got an Escort GTI for the train station, pub car park overnights, tip runs and football pickups for muddy kids. We've had it 6 years when it was the wifes car.
It returns good mileage, has a fair size boot, aircon, wipeable half leather seats and its pretty invisible in a car park. Also parts are cheap and all the factors carry them.
