Trig,

When I paid for my wheels & tyres today, I wanted to add locking wheel nuts - Matt thought these were included in the group buy.... is this right ?.

Also Matt thought the final price was £770 (£740 + £30 del) .... is this right ?

Many thanks for your efforts on this GB

Yes, wheel nuts and locking nuts are included.

No, that is not right. The Price is £710 + £30 del = £740. He made a mistake - I will clarify the prices with him.

You're welcome

As I've clarified above, the total is £740, and I've just emailed Matt and asked him to check that none of us are charged £770.

For everyone else, please check that the prices I have written are correct for you, and ensure that's what you pay RareRims (inc p&p).

************** You will not be getting your wheels on Monday **************

unless you're name is James, and you're having the Formula Mesh wheels

Toyo normally deliver tyres to RareRims the day after being ordered, but they didn't arrive today. They should be in Monday, so our wheels should be sent on Monday, for delivery Tuesday. I will update the thread on Monday to let you know if that is still the case.

Yes, yours would be ok, but...
when I spoke to Matt earlier, he said he hadn't had any payment from you? So I guess yours aren't on the way either.

Yes, so my informants told me - there's always one that has to break the rules and order something that's not on the menu
How much are you saving? I don't know anything about the Falkens so this advice may not apply here, but I'd never go for an inferior tyre on a performance car, because tyres make so much difference to the amount of grip you have. Obviously the tyre is what grips the road, but I always assumed that the difference between good and bad tyres would be small, and I was shocked at the difference when I first tried decent tyres (Bridgestone S02s). If you choose the wrong tyre, you may as well not have a performance car. Or are Falkens a bargain gem I'm missing out on?

thanks for all your effort in organising this...
You're welcome. I've ended up spending much more than I wanted to, but they are great wheels.

I would have preferred silver to be honest but I'm not bothered.

Black will do just fine.

do you?

If you'd prefer silver, you need to let them know. On the gunmetal, I'd have thought black was the only sensible option - on silver, or polished face, I'm not so sure. Any thoughts?

- James I spoke to Matt & told him I'd prefer the silver wheel nuts (Steel Grey wheel & black nuts didn't seem right). He was fine about it, if you'd prefer silver - just give him a call.

There's no need to make do - we are allowed either, it's just that RareRims are sending out black if you don't specify a preference, as it's more popular.

Interesting.... Phoned up with Car/Username/Card/Delivery/Contact details yesterday, assumed he'd fire it through the system today and if something wasn't right then he'd give me a buzz. Hmmmm, might have been Julian I spoke to rather than Matt, guess I'll see whats what on Monday!!

Hope I haven't missed out. I showed interest in some 18" GRA's in gunmetal with tyres earlier in the group buy but read the post where it said they wern't available. Only noticed today the later post saying I could still have these at a discount. Will I still be able to participate in this group buy?

Trig

I believe the Falkens will be okay for the type of driving I do...with a five year old I never really get the chance to push on anyway.....as you know I was going down the Kumho route..but just seemed like a lot of hassle...didnt have the funds for the Toyos...so after speaking to Matt...(he has a set of Falkens on his car!) I decided to give them a whirl..they will do for a while and if they are inferior then I can change them a few months down the line...all in all mate worked out about £770 for 18" with the Falkens....and when I add up the £495 for the rims originally and £220 + delivery on the Kumhos of Ebay...plus fitting..was just as easy to get them to do it....!!
will let you know what they are like mate.....

Yep, no problem. I will check with RareRims if they'd like to put an end date on the buy, but you are certainly fine to order at the moment. What would you like? (have a look at the prices I've posted on page 3)

18" GRA's in gunmetal with tyres Trig. Do I just need to ring up rare rims on Monday and they will be ok to sell to me with the group buy price?

assti - if you're in a rush, you can call RareRims and ask to speak to Matt - I'm sure he won't mind you saying you'd like to join the scoobynet group buy. I will email him tomorrow with you added to the list, and I shall also ask if he'd like to put an end date on the group buy. Please see below re your tyre size.

1. Trig - 17" GRA, Gunmetal polished face, Toyo T1Rs 215/40/17 = £740
2. Mike Molloy - 17" GRA, Steel grey, Toyo T1Rs 215/40/17 = £740
3. PaulC555 18", GRA, Steel Grey = £495
4. JamesF - 18" Formula Mesh, Silver, Toyo T1Rs = £790
5. sjwent - 17" GRA, Steel grey, Toyo T1Rs 215/40/17 = £740
6. scoobasteve - 18'' GRA, Steel Grey, Toyo T1Rs 225/40/18 = £885 02 WRX
7. RS Grant - 18" P1, Bronze = £400
8. assti - 18" GRA, Gunmetal, Toyo T1Rs 215/35/18. = £885

Note that the tyre size will depend on what year your car is. Eg, you can put 18" wheels on a classic, but I imagine you'd have a profile of 35, whereas I think the profile is 40 with more recent scoobs. Please make sure you get the right size wheels for your car.

Triggaaar I've just done a quick search and it looks like the optimum tyre size for no arch rubbibg is a 215/35/18. So put me down for this size cheers.
Adam.

Ok - they're just waiting for the Falkens to arrive for Paul, and the order to be confirmed from Adam (they'll have you on the list as assti).

James should have his wheels today
Steve should get his Wednesday

and the rest of us should get ours tomorrow (it seems they hadn't sorted yours out Grant, but having just spoken to Matt, they should be sent today).

Hows it going Trigaaar. As per our e-mail conversation, could you put me down for a set of 7.5x17" Rota Torque's in Silver, i think i would prefer them in white but i dont think they do them in a fitment for the classic impreza in white.

Just wheels no tyres required.

Thanks

Chris

Have you had a look at the Force? They're 17x8", but they should fir the classic (5x100 offset). They're nice in white.

My wheels and tyres arrived today. They certainly look the bizz!
One thing though, I didn't get any wheel nuts (locking or otherwise). Can someone confirm exactly what was included in the deal? I guess I need to get on to Rare Rims tomorrow...

As the beautiful Jade Goody once said to Shilpa Shetty (in her delightful accent), Good for you!

Only kidding - I'm just sore because the useless TNT didn't turn up to deliver mine. They did the usual 'oh there was no one in', while I sat by the front door for 8 hours. They should have to at least post a note to prove they turned up.

I can confirm that they were definitely included in the deal.

I thought an 8" wide would be too wide for a classic but i will take a look at the force, has anyone on here got a classic with 8" wide wheels on it. Wonder if they would give much trouble with rubbing etc?

You may be right, I'm not sure. Try searching wheel threads, or post a new thread in the wheel section.

Its not too wide, but the 215 section tyres end up a bit stretched on the wheels... probably ok, unless you are doing hard cornering or the roads you use have reasonably severe dips in them which require a lot of suspension travel.

My wheels arrived today around 11am, had a wee peek at one of them.. big fan.

Think I'll head down to the garage and have a look through the other three boxes and double check I got the Black Nuts and Locking Nuts sent up too.

Thanks for organising this Group Buy Trig.

Cheers,
Grant
