I don't know. The deeper I go the more awkward it gets to remove any more material. I'm just going to keep chipping away at it, but there WILL come a time when I say "Right, that's enough".

As a brief interlude, here's a pterodactyl fossil I fabricated a few years ago.

I made each little bone out of milliput epoxy putty and stuck it down on a baseboard. I painted all the bones with a couple of coats of acrylic paint to look like fossil bone. Then I flooded the board with a slurry of plaster mixed with fine sand. When that had set, I carved away the plaster carefully, as a fossil preparator would develop a real fossil, until all the bones were revealed.
I don't have enough to do with my time, obviously.

Well, that depends. Do they want it as fuel for the wood burning stove, or...

One day, I'll be able to afford more expensive tools. Then I can be a proper artist.

Today's update:
Well, I've finally decided to go for the more three-dimensional version, and started to excavate deep within the mouth area.

They grew to about six inches long, then were either shed or broken off during an act of predation/scavenging. A new one grew in its place.
HTH.

No, no true artist
ever sells his work. That's just prostitution.
You should tell him to 'catch the first train home....' the cheeky begger... and keep your integrity intact
