Re: the comments from the police officer regarding "what do you expect.." - I had a similar "discussion" with a member of South Wales police a few years back after seeing a joy-rider ditch an old fiesta (after nearly running me, and a bunch of other people down).

There was a cruise happening no more than 500 metres away, which had a police helicopter in attendence - and it took them nearly 40 minutes to get a car to us. The annoying thing is that the little ****** and his mates came back after we had called the police the first time to rip the car apart - and the police still failed to turn up and catch them. When the first officer did turn up (who didn't know anything about our call or the car) I approached, explained and offered a statement - he pointed at our cars and said "what do you expect?" - at which point I let of a barrage of abuse at him that should have probably seen me in cuffs, and suggested he send another officer over as I wasn't going to speak to him.

I'm not suggesting that all officers are like this - but to me its exactly the same as saying "pah - she was wearing a short skirt, she deserved it". Blaming the victim for the crime.

 

I believe it was just called "Donny Show 2007", sponsored by Fast Car magazine. 2 day event , Sat + Sun 7th/8th April. The Subaru was parked on the main car parking field. We were in row 3 I think, so I would guess he was parked at row 2, or thereabouts.

It was in parking area 2 and there were 2 in a row and both were done along with 8 others through out the weekend.

 

Disgrace, so what are we going to do about it?? as SN i think we should email all these places that hold these big events and their organisers are and tell them that if security is not present and effective we wont attend or support these events,
same thing happened at the pod last year several evos and scoobs nicked from the car park.

Dear sirs/madam,



I am writing this email on behalf of, which I believe, would be thousands of car enthusiasts all over the UK.

Over the Easter Bank holiday weekend you held an event of which the public were invited to, Time Attack.

On one of the day’s a guys who came to the show in his Subaru Impreza, (Unfortunately the chap who owns this car hasn’t come forward as of yet, so I cant give you his name or any other details,but im sure it was his pride and joy no doubt)of which was parked in the grounds of Donington Park, was broken in to and stripped of major parts including wheels, head lights, bonnet, rear lights and engine parts.

It does turn out that 3 other cars were stolen and in the region of 10 were broken in to and belongings removed.
This is not the first time that at one of your events cars have been broken in to and/or stolen,

Your security is shocking to say the least.

Many people are willing to boycot Donington Park until security measures are stepped up.

I can’t be sure of how many people go to the major shows that you hold, but if you charge on average £15 per person entry fee im sure that adds up to quite a tidy sum, Surely you could afford better than what you have now?

Some questions I put to you for an answer if I may.

1) May we ask what your security was doing at the time??

2) How many security guards do you employ for a track day event like the one over Easter break?

3) What are you intending to do about the situation in general and the security issues?

4) What do you have to say about this single issue and to the guys who had their cars ransacked and stolen?





Please take time to see what people are saying about this disgusting behaviour that you seem to be doing nothing about, on the web sites below.

You may have to register to get on some but it only takes a few minutes and you might learn of what every one in the car world is thinking.

Ive only seen this scenario to many times and I really dread the day someone in the average metro or similar pulls up on me as I can just see it... "damn idiot in that fast car must of been driving like a maniac"

Anyway...back on topic... I really feel sorry for the chap that owned that
