Unfortunately I cannot comment either, for NDA reasons, but rest assured they do significant revenues, especially since buying Massive, the in-game ad company, and linking in-game and Live into their MSN ad sales group.

Iain, I can't disagree, but I'll reserve judgement til I experience it myself. Sony has TRC's publishers must follow (unlike on PC) but I haven't seen them yet for PS3, but I cannot imagine the online experience is not covered in there.

I wasn't aware of that, it's good to know. However you've got to admit it's pretty cool being able to download and play it at a mates house without buying it again.

That does seem quite good, but I wonder about the legalities. I can see people (especially kids) buying 1 copy, splitting the cost between them, and installing on 4 machines. This effectively quarters the potential profit from any game released in this way. Not sure that makes business sense...

Oh to add... I was winning a couple of games of Pro Evo and the gits disconnected from Live. It said I'd been awarded the win but don't think this shows in your stats? In fact the only times I've looked like winning and they've done this

It's a fine line between balancing digital rights and offering a 'fair' solution to consumers. One I'm glad I'm not involved with!

I think sony have had a bashing on this before so they are playing it 'safe'!

I tried to get on Live once, couldn't get it to work so just gave up and didn't bother again after that. When I set my PS3 up on Friday I couldn't fail to get it online, it almost did it itself.

I will have another go at 360. I'm a bit wary though because I know that once I start using it I'll never be off it.

I found it easy enough. Biggest thing was setting my Wifi up but that's not down to Live. I think you may be able to register on the internet which would save the hassle of inputting your details via the controller. Not 100% on that though.

Gears of War is great on Live.

There's nothing really technical about connecting the 360 to live. Plug it in, turn it on, enter your account details (or sign up for a new one) and it should just connect. It only starts getting technical when you are using firewalls or connecting through a pc, but the same problems would happen with the PS3 as well in those situations. My mum managed to connect her 360 first time, and she's not exactly the most technical person in the world

If you are having problems, post them up here and I'm sure we can get them solved

Possibly Ed, but it seems a massive turnaround. When you consider how hard they've been trying to stop people using homebrew stuff on the psp, or how draconian they've been with their audio cd stuff (remember the rootkit fiasco a while ago), to suddenly have a relaxed drm model seems a bit strange...

Cheers guys.

I will have another go at setting Live up this week as I would like to play Gears online (even though I'm rubbish at it).
