EVO boys always have to show off!
I slip-up in a spectator-free zone, Pete however flashes everything in the biggest spectator zone!!
My 'off' is me fighting the bloody front plated diff, I was holding on to the wheel for grim death with one hand, full throttle, and thinking 'crap'.
Did my best time.....but NOT my best Triangle split. That was last year...
The diff is coming out at API while i gather very much needed Brownie Points doing the house/garden.
I hate wood and nails and screws nearly as much as plated front diffs.
The car will be just so much easier to drive when done, esp at Prescott of all places.
I wonder if I can get to within 1 second of the Harriman Boys?
Nice pics! (good for my deflating ego.)

As with Loton you have gone faster in competition than both of us at Prescott and you arrive with new super rubber and shorter ratios, so we are chasing you, we are following the established folk, namely Roy and yourself, and then there is the A4. Our front runner, super fast status has been given to us by others, never claimed by us or proven with competetive times so we are just 2 more cars in the class like everyone else and PB's are the target as usual. Keeping 4 wheels on the black stuff in the competeive runs is my main objective.
So as with law we are innocent of being fast until proven guilty .

LOL!
As my daughter would say...'Yeh, right!'
The racing is close and that is very good for us all, just one slip and it's gone!
That green bit of mine at Loton cost me the triangle time and that made it's mark up the hill.
I had similar difficulties coming out of Keepers to the Cedar Straight as well, another 10th or 2.
My goal this year is to get into at least the next second down everywhere, sub 2's off the start and to get much closer to Roy and Pete and you. Andrew needs a careful watch too in the 2.2 Legacy.
With the front diff coming out, the car will be back to drivable again, so I need to get into the next second down at Prescott if the weather is good.
If it rains I am forced onto my road 1A tyres which is not good.
Would really like some Kumho's on my 16's again for the road/wet days, but that is another £500.(so won't happen, got a house to do-up)

I was just interested as to what he was doing, I know what diff I have in front as you already told me and was just wondering why he was binning the diff so soon after fitting it and if he was just reverting back to the original set up. There will be no more major mods in 2007 and if there were diffs would be bottom of the list.

Have you seen the Audi TT on the hdlcc forum?

Took the plunge today and picked up my set of Avon hillclimbing slicks, 210/620/17's, that's 20mm bigger diameter than my current kuhmos which should lengthen the gears a bit which is ideal as with the new power they seem a little too short in the tighter stuff.
They were considerably more money than my old kuhmos but I got a good deal and grip is all in this game so I'm sure it's worth it. You could easily spend £1k on your engine etc. and go no faster up the hills whatsoever, but £1k on ultimate grip rubber, that should realise some quicker times so in a £'s for time shaved off ratio I think it's probably the best value you can get.
I will have them on for the MAC meeting at Curborough on sunday which should be an ideal opportunity for Pete and I to try and get used do getting the most out of our new rubber, let's hope it stays dry!

210, they are radials unlike yours, I'm not too sure what the difference between the 2 is.
I forgot to ask what pressures to run, any suggestions mate?
Have you been tyre warming yours pre-start?, I don't find the idea too appealing, I'm worried about my transmission as it is, thinking about a short gentle wizz up to get everything that's stuck into them off at most; and God knows things stick in, they looked like a rockery after rolling them across BMTR's car park to put them in my van!
They feel really light as well but that might just be me used to picking up wheels and tyres.

No show on mine yet and i have a funny gut feeling that they wont show tomorrow! so i might be running at curb with my **** yoko track day tyres which has got to be the worst tyre for hillclimbing and sprint racing! you could put a blow tourch to them and they would stay cold!

Enjoy!
Taking the Sti to API tomorrow from the tweeks at Powerstation.
More window painting, fence fixing, and more window painting...but time to get the 911 on the road too.
At last, a straight simple car to mess with.
I recon I would get more points in Cii running last than scrabbling about in Ci with you two!
I dread to think about you all on slicks!
Rob: ppg is next on the list!

Hi guys,
Our club is putting on it's first hill climb in 8 weeks time. Regs will be out in a week or so. It is a brand new hill climb venue. No single seaters so for those of you dreaming of setting an outright hill record, this may be your best chance
I'm coming to both Prescott and Loton next month to get a behind the scenes view of running hill climbs to make sure our event goes off smoothly. More info soon

Curborough
First day on slicks and what a difference so much grip and im on circuit slicks, not even close to the compound rob and graham are running! Got used to them in practice and gave it some beans on the competitive runs setting a PB with a missed gear of 33.93 but im affraid it was nowhere near the pace of Rob winning the class with a 33.33, 1.87 64ft launch and 107mph finish line speed to my 2.23 64ft and 100mph finish speed! Im affraid i cant match that sort of straight line pace and his car with the new soft compound slicks is so sorted and smooth so its either bank loan (turbo) or sit behind him on the standings all year, Got some thinking to do! dont think i can bring myself to spend anymore money on my car! But fair play Rob he drove really well and brushed the competition to one side.

Will do. Regs are being whipped into shape now, should be out next week.
I was at the venue today helping to decide how many marshal's posts are required and where they need to be sited. This course certainly puts the hill in hill climb! The average gradient is 8% over a course length of 1650 metres (just over a full mile). This would make it one of the longest hill climb venues in the UK wouldn't it? It's longer than any permanent venue as far as I can work out. Torque will certainly be your friend, especially out of the final chicane. More information to follow later.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all at Prescott and seeing how an established event is run.
