Hillclimbing, the 2007 Season Project.
No I think I have done my share of driving at Loton this year and finished on a high with the win/record.
Also my slicks look like this -

Absolutley shagged, so I want to use the last few millimeters of rubber in the 3 'A' meets.
The meeting I'm most looking forward to is the rescheduled Prescott on the 21st Sept, I'm dual driving my dads quattro, dream come true!

Yikes!
Was surforming my slicks for Prescott yesterday, but they don't look that bad!
You should take more care with your driving!
A blat in that car will do you no good, old man's car, so you should let me have a go instead!!
Make sure that camera is in place or nobody will talk to you again...!

Prescott A meeting this weekend.
I have not had much joy this season at Prescott since the new spec of the car for 2007, I struggled to adapt to the bigger turbo in previous meetings and in comparison to Loton Park and Shelsley Walsh I was much slower in the class standings so I had 1 last crack to try and sort it out.
The first run of practice day was the final nail in the coffin of my destroyed front slick tyres and the burn out saw fist size chunks of rubber seperating from the carcass and I was forced into buying 2 new ones at £232+vat each which is no joke, now I have my tyre pressures sorted theses should wear properly and last much longer than their predecessors.
The tyres realised Instant results. Going into this meeting my PB was 47.22 and the first run out with the new front tyres I made a 46.35. We got a 3rd practice run in and I posted another PB of 45.78 a massive improvement over my previous efforts my comfort in the now sorted car starting to show. Pete posted a 45.60 and we both had our sights set on A4's record of 45.35 for Sundays competetive runs now knowing Roger would not be running due to his V8 throwing a cam chain (So I'm told).
Weather was good but grip was not for our early runs. My split times were slow in the lower part of the track but I was making it up well in the upper part when in the final right hander disaster struck, despite having 2/3rds of a tank of fuel I got fuel surge on the exit of the corner and the car momentarily cut out just as I was about to change from 2nd to 3rd gear costing me time and I posted my slowest run of the weekend on the new rubber 46.61. Pete did a 46.24 to lead the class and Graham posted yet another PB of 46.60 putting him in second place by 1/100th of a second. I was very dissapointed with my time and annoyed about the fuel surge which I had not experienced in practice with less fuel in the tank, a victim of cornering faster than I had the previous day it seems, and when the black clouds came in around midday It looked like my chance had past as it started to spit rain and I was going to be 3rd after having my sights et on the win and the record, ambitious but possible. The rain held out and we got another dry run in the afternoon and I had my sights firmly set on that class record. Geoff who was running just in front of Graham, Pete and I had a big off at semi-circle (I think), and the meeting was stopped for a good 30 mins with Graham on the start line and me in the spin up area, it was strange going from adrenaline rush and being really up for attacking the hill to sitting still for 30 minutes then trying to get back up for it in an instant when the track was cleared and the marshalls called us. It turns out Geoff was ok and his car didnt look too badly damaged although I was viewing it from quite far off. I attacked the first corner posting a PB spilt speed of 73mph and the run was looking like a quick one coming into pardon hairpin I put 2 wheels on the grass on the inside of the corner and got some major wheel spin on the exit costing me time and I posted a so so 46.18, Pete did a blistering 45.44 and took the class win his new carbon diff and handling mods doing the trick so it seems. Graham failed to improve on his 46.60 and I took the 2nd place spot. A good weekend for confidence if not competetive times now I know I can push the record times in my car at Prescott but there was no shame in losing to Pete's time it was rapid and he deserved the win.
The outright hill record was broken in consecutive runs by first Martin groves then Scott Moran it made exciting viewing. I managed to get this short video to try and convey just how fast these cars are, check this out for acceleration!?!?!?

Shelsey next weekend and it looks like Roger is out of action in the A4 so I have my sights firmly set on a class win and hope to join the sub 30 second club in the process.

I would like to say congratulations to my sponsors team Zen Performance on their time attack victory, they sure do know how to build winning machines.

One day my car will look and go like this!

not too bad , about £1k and a bad back, trying to make Shelsley
Best bRegards Geoff.
Thought I had lost this but I found a video of my first competetive run on sunday morning. My slowest run of the weekend on the new tyres at 46.61 almost a second slower than the previous day in practice.
On watching it back it's quite obvious all my time is gone in the first corner which I take very slowly, too tight and slow on entry and off the throttle way too long which explains me being 5mph down through the speed trap and a second down on the first split compared to my 45 second run in practice.
Then there is the annoying fuel starve just before the line to round it all off.
Not a good run but interesting enough viewing.

I have had to pull out, so no car 51 at Shelsley this weekend.
I am in for an ankle operation on wednesday, and having spent the last week at a show in London, I can't hardly walk!
Have fun guys. Looks like perfect weather.
