M5 test drive!

OOh, sorry if Im not being politically correct....I also know plenty who like to flash the cash....but they usually happen to be the ones who have come into the money rather quickly shall we say....I'll stop stereotyping on that note!!

Ok everybody calm down, I've 'known' Turbo quite some time and it was meant tongue in cheek and thats how I took it. Anyway its a complement I suppose, I'd rather be careful with my cash than flash.
Scoobyboy, in my younger days I changed cars all the time and wasted alot of cash. In 8 years I owned one Astra, two Peugeot GTis, four BMWs and four Scoobs!
But you're right I test drive alot of cars! I might actually buy one soon!

The remark was indeed meant tongue in cheek, besides which I am Asian too, and I also am very prudent when it comes to major purchases such as cars....
I completely understand Deep's attention to his research, and I use a similarly thorough approach.......its saved me £££s!

Stop spouting ****
I'll humour you on this one with the BMW article on the new M3 V8
"BMW has just released all the details you could ever want to know about its newest V8, and the power numbers look to take the M3 to the next level. The 4.0L engine is derived from the potent 5.0L V10 in the M5 and M6. The aluminum and composite engine weighs only 445 lbs, 33 lbs less than the base 3-Series' inline-six. And to fully-realize all 420 hp from the V8, which features Double Vanos valve technology, you can rev the motor to an RX-8-like 8,300 rpm. The M3 will also carry 295 ft-lbs of torque, 85% of which is available at 2,000 rpm."
How exactly is that "weak" against an RS4 motor. At least it'll be nestled nicely between, and mostly behind, the front axle line. Audi still insist on hanging their engines out to dry at the front. Understeer anyone?

lol at those sugar coated figures.
also "lol" at the weak old stereotypical views that audi engines are mounted way up front.
You do know that the A8 is 2nd only to the new S-class, the TT has been beating the cayman and Z4 day in day out as a overall car and the R8 is mid engined, the Q7 is also superior to the pointless, 5 series on stilts, X5. Also the new A5 has a better weight distribution than any 4wd BMW 3-series

AL,
Vocally, the new RS4 is fantastic. It's beautifully built to boot.
However, have you ever driven an RS4 or RS6? Have you ever driven an M3 or M5 in comparison. Have you ever owned any of these cars, or have you simply read Audi press releases and articles about them and the competition?
Until you have comprehensively driven them and then owned one or more of them, ease up on your rose tinted Audi views. It's tedious to say the least.
Having driven all the modern "performance" Audis, I can confirm, IMHO, that Audi still has some way to go. Engines, chassis and steering are all still some way off BMW. Even an E90 on runflats has superior handling to the new RS4 and is streets ahead of the RS6. Note that I said handling, not grip.
Look forward to hearing your actual views and impressions once you've spent significant time in the driving seat assessing the competition.

Infact even the new S3 beats the M3, 335i and Scooby round tracks like hockenheim etc.
And then theres the R8, you trying to tell me theres a BMW to challenge that beast.
Your views of audi are outdated. Get with the times

Audi have for along time placed their engines over the front axle of the car making them dogs for handling - understeer understeer understeer.
More recently with the RS4 (not sure about the S3) - they seem to have taken their sports model a little more seriously and placed the engine more towards the driver (ie behind the front axle) - resulting in a much improved handling/balanced car.
Audi have a cracking reputation for build quality - it makes a change to see them actually trying to put some effort into the driving experience !

Go test drive the new TT, the new S3, and the new S8. I think your views might change rather drastically afterwards. As for the S3, its a much much quicker than the R32 and 130i and has been beating STI's also. Its an amazing machine not to take lightly. A nice little factory optional MTM remap makes it even faster still

No, I don't think anyone believes you. On another thread you have just claimed to have driven each and every Audi model on sale bar the R8.
Does anyone on here believe him? (I remember that lexus testdrive report you wrote up) You are a joke.

Back on subject....
MattOz did say handling not grip.
The Lotus Elise for instance will have handling light years away from an RS4 yet would have it's **** handed to it round the ring
So tell me how do BMW's have superior handling when the RS4 is faster round the 'ring than the more powerful M5, M6 and easily beats the M3.
