yep, we can still have it around my place.

The best w/e though is the 19th/20th, as the other two seem doubtful at the moment.

The following is what space I have available -
One dining room table – fits 3 people
My computer room – fit 1, poss 2 people including me
A spare room – fit 2 too 3 people (req’s desks)
Living room – fit 2 people (req’s desks)
A big fridge for beer

Total 8 people comfortably – 10 at the maximum

I suggest my local wetherspoons is the best place to meet first before going to the killing grounds

Norman, unfortunately I don’t have ADSL otherwise you would be more than welcome to interlope.

Dizzy – Details will be sent shortly mate.

RR, floor is fine for me

From the look of things I will bring some extra-extra-extra long patch cables, unless someone has some wireless cards

Bagsy a dinning room place

H cheers for the nic card

I can do any date (given enough warning) so the 19th/20th weekend is fine by me.

Is this purely a CS thing? cause I don't have many other games, never needed them

Thumbs up

Maybe we should have a few other LAN playable games on standby incase we get CS-overload.

The only decent one I have is Age of Empiers (1, 2 and conquers expansion). Very addictive too and excellent fun.

Oh God here I go volunteering a server and it looks like we might actually need it.

The Box that is free at the moment is a dual Pentium III 700Mhz about 512Mb Ram with about 20Gb disk.

Can be built with Linux (mandrake 8.0) or Win2K Pro, or both ?

Guys that have run servers what is the best OS - may have to get it on an Internet connection (prob only 64K ISDN) before so someone can configure it up - thats unless My very own Dell Poweredge Monstor will do the trick. Size of a Shed, sounds like concorde on Take off. 2 x Pentium Pro 200 512Mb Ram. 8Gb Disk (though I may be able to add to that temporary like)

24 Port 10/100 Switch not a problem. (Please note all ports will be 10mb except mine and the servers )

Cool

Nice one Deano But I doubt that would make much difference, thats unless I hear/see someone saying/typing "wtf?", "no way", "you lpb" etc....

The most easiest OS would be Win2k to configure, driver wise, if you use the PPro machine.

Cool

I am running 1.2Athlon with XP OS nice and easy to interface, can bring a disc if required .

If we stick to games using the Half Life engine like TFC, DOD etc we will at least have an idea how to play them as the structure and keys are very simular. I am not up to date with Age of Empire and therefore will just have to **** people off by asking what key does what .

Cheers

Neal

Now going to do some hiding of equipment

Sounds like this is coming together nicely

I'll try and grab a few longish patch cables. I also have some RJ45 connectors, so we can string a few together if neccessary. I'll bring the 8 port hub as well. We can daisy-chain it to one of the outlying rooms to save on cabling.

We will probably need a few 4 way power adaptors. I may have one I can bring...

19th or 20th sounds like it's the date to go for. Any preferance for Sat or Sun? Agree we should meet up first at JD-Wetherspoons. Any preferance on timings. Need to get as much game game play in as poss, in between quick grabs of food and drink .

As I'm sure you know try not to run the cables next to the power leads for more than a few meters

RR - What Internet connection have you got.

If its anytime and ISDN we can rig up a bit of communal web access for scoobynet surfing whilst dead

Hi Guys

Now we have the people, what equipment do we need other than our PC. Lets make a list of equipment we have access to and equipment we need. As networking is is foreign to me one of you guys is going to take the plunge.

I have 1.2 Athlon PC with 10/100 Network card with cable, running on XP OS.

My mate Muddy Funster is interested if there is a space. He is running P1.7 with 10/100 network card, again running XP OS. He has a 19" monitor but doesnt fancy lugging about so can anyone supply a monitor.

Also have you a flat white wall or a projector screen .

CS on a projector rocks .

Cheers

Neal

Games PC - Athlon 1Ghz 17" Monitor

Potential Server - (need to know if this will be powerful enough ?) Dell Poweredge - 2x P200 Pro, 512Mb Some SCSI disks (may add more ?) Running Win2K Adv Server. (Its Big by the way!)

1 (maybe 2) Cisco 24 Port 10/100 Switches (Soz havent got the Gig Modules for these ones
1 3Com 24 Port 10 Meg Switch + 2 x 100 Mb Ports.

1 x Spare Nic - Dlink 10/100 (plus a few ISA NE2000 in case Steve turns up )
1 x Spare 15" Sony FlatScreen (as in triniton not TFT )
1 x Random 17" - A bit of a Goldfish bowl but OK

3 x 4 Way adaptors min 5m lead (some longer....)
1 x 8 way lead.

Strangely I havent got easy access to Patch leads. We never seem to have enough.

Well,

I was going to bring my laptop to play on, but if we are thinking of playing other games I will probably bring my home PC (Athlon 700 - 128 (or 256mb if I can borrow some mem from work) and Nvidia TNT2). I'll leave the 17 monitor at home though and bring a 13" (visible screen size) one from work.

Neal, I can bring one for you if you like. Not quite the same as 19" or projection though...

I also have a 3com Ethernet card that's spare if anyone needs one. Not been used for a few years but should still work.

Neal - we are nearing 8 people so far. When I get home tonight I'll have a good think on what the real maxiumum amount of people I can fit in. I'll let you know tomorrow. If there is space (which I think there is) Muddy is more than welcome to come.

Has anyone got the xbox would love to see Halo in action
