your car is going to be rapid Guy
looks like there is nout to it so a good power to weight ratio
. have you sorted out what you doing with your gearbox?

as you can see in one of the pics ive had to make some levers to bolt onto the front shafts to try and hold them in order to remove the big nut on the main shaft on the box but it still wont undo, its fooking tight im going to have to take it somwhere to get it taken of with a good air gun, ive bolted the rear plate on for now anyway so i can fit the gearbox and make up some mounts for it.
Hi James. Haven't ordered the parts yet as
a> They were out of stock in Oz, but are due to get some made.
b> I need to take a measurement from my suspension. The Turbo box is a tad taller in the casing than the 2wd box I have. I have measured a turbo box at the point that is of concern to me, but need to make sure it fits through the space between the De Dion axle and panhard rod.
Have the box measurement length wise but not height

How do the levers you made work, do they fit onto the splining for the gearbox front diff o/p shafts

yes i have made the levers to fit over and bolt through the plines to try and stop it all turning but it still wont undo so i need to try an air gun on it.
you can borrow the levers when you come to do yours if you want Guy.

just need to get it plumbed in now...
Ive been sorting out my gearbox mount today and ive decided on a position it slighly tilted but it dosnt hang as low this way...

well ive got all the diamensions i need from the engine and box so ive stripped it all back out to finish and fully weld the frame work and get it painted..

Thanks for the good comments guys.
Ive stripped out the escort pedal box and converted it to use with the subaru master cylinder as the escort uses a cable operated clutch..
ive got the gear lever and shift cables out of an mr2 which fit ok but the cables will need to be longer, ive also got my new fuel tank which looks pretty dam good

Thats some seriously rapid progress, wish I could find the motivation to work that fast!
Glad you got the tank sorted.
Whats yr plans for it - road legal or track days? Something that seems to be a bit of a grey/debatable area is if you need an SVA for a middy conversion, or just update the V5 with the new engine details, get an MOT and keep quiet? (But give the insurance company have full details)
How do I post pictures?

James If your prepared to do a bit of hunting around you should be able to find a better price.
What you need to google search on is "Morse cables". They get used lot by marine and aviation
These are three I came up with via Google in the UK. Just need to ensure they are pull and push cables.
Cable-Tec: Manufacturers of Felsted control cables and control systems
Morse 33C Inboard / Outboard Cables £17.99 Mailspeed Marine Chandlery - Mailspeed Marine Chandlery
Morse Control Cables - MarineScene - Discount Marine Chandlery

To get on the road legally I would think an SVA test would be the best bet. Trouble is they test all sorts of insignificant things (as well as some sensible stuff like asessing the brake balance and power in relation the weight and centre of gravity of the car). Its pretty easy to be failed on an edge, inside or outside the car, which isn't radiused to the requirements. Emmisons are strictly tested in relation to the age of your engine too. Once you have it though it means you can get kit car insurance which is usually a bit cheaper.
Keep up the good work!

Sounds much the same as my project 0- not really sure what its for, I just felt the need to build something different!

To get the car sorted you can privatly hire a full sprint track TO YOURSELF.
The track is at Curborough near Fradley off the A38 going to Burton on Trent.
The game is to get others to join you to spread the cost, you can have up to 5 (for noise reasons).
Cost is £250 so about 50 each.
This is 3 or 4 hours track time all to the group, and it can be driven in 2 directions so the variety is great for suspension/fun.
3 hours will knacker you and the car I assure you.
I'm doing one very very soon with 3 of us, all hillclimbers so we know each other and will respect track time too.
pm for tele number if you want to enquire about hiring it.
It is VERY popular indeed so plan ahead.
Graham.

Hi James
Just waiting for Saker to get the conversion kits in, sounds like it will be next week hopefully when I can order.
Apart from that looking around for a box. The late and early 5sp boxes (thanks for the dims for early) should be ok. Ideal one would be good main box and front diff, and duff centre diff which I don't need, at the right price
