Awesome project, bloomin scarey though..... i laughed at firsat when they said 1 year, and 400k...... i just knew it was not possible, the stone masonary was awesome, some very skilled guys there.... and who fancies living in a caravan for that long... in that cold!!
Odd though, the guy who's house it is, just didn't seem like the right sort of character to take on such a build, he seemed far too quiet, still, i reckon he saved a good 30k by being an architect!!

Total respect, looked stunning when finished!!

Thumbs down

I wish that internal wall had fallen on Kevin McCloud's head - what a patronising piece of helmetdale that man is.

Cheers

Stunning, stunning, stunning....
I just loved the end result - what an utterly fabulous home.
They fully deserved it after all that trouble.

Hey there, new guy here, it was a fantastic build wasnt it!

My uncle worked on that house, and he was on the show a few times last night, he helped build the staircase, windows, and doors!

He didnt get too much invloved with the heritage folks, just telling me they were very petty with a lot of the details surrounding everything that went on in there.

I tell you what, it was all worth it in the end for the owners......what a stunning house!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks he is the worst thing about this program.

Every week it's the same thing, him being a condecending tw*t when problems arise, says he doesn't think it will look nice etc, then at the end always says it's great.

He such an obnoxious ar5ehole!

It's called TV - the producers probably ask him to be like that.

The roof was clever because from three directions it looked like the original. Fair play to EH for allowing that aspect to go through as this generation's contribution to a constantly evolving property.

But does a couple really need a 7 bedroomed house? I'd rather spend that money on something else, yacht, place in france, etc.

Great restoration - full of respect for them for rescuing that ruin.

Bet the masons were cr@pping themselves when the middle wall fell down - good job it didn't knock through the outer wall too!

But it was the guys dream to live in a castle. Do don't get that many 3 bed castles...

Now if you spent a shed load on a house in France, you'll get some one saying "why spend all the money on a house in another country? I'd rather spend it on so-and-so"..
