And a propper tuned euro car or japanese car will poo poo n muscle cars in a straight line still.
a tuned eurocar, or jap car will poo poo on a tuned american car, which is what I said in my other post. I was comparing tuned vs tuned.
You didn't say that first time round.

So how will a tuned euro/jap car poo poo on a (change of mind) tuned muscle car then?

**** off you numptie

Sounds to me like what????

I was working on the assumption (granted, incorrectly), that the S4 was racing a Scooby. I've got/had both, so I think I'm in a pretty strong position to comment on this scenario. However, it wasn't the case, don't underestimate a car that isn't a Subaru

The Audi, despite what Audilover thinks/says, isn't perfect. Far from it. But this forum is "Other Marques" - why shouldn't people sing their car's praises.

Get off your high horse - it must lack of oxygen at that giddy height that's causing your totally irrelevant comments.

Never under estimate and s4, a quick remap on these will see 320bhp then they are a totally different monster, if you came across a properly tuned one then im sure you would poo yourself.

Compare a Calloway tuned corvette to a tuned S4 and I know what my money would be on
this is what I was replying to. Read before you type

P1 fek your P1 must be fast on top end cos my mates rs6 will clock 180mph and still has a little bit...its not std but not much done to it, turbo back miltek and re-map its about 500-550bhp. Hes got it in having some work done at the moment bigger hybrid turbos and a proper 6 speeder not the semi auto as std.

most american cars are limited to 110mph, not that they would go much faster anyway

Exactly its other marques, so why would you presume he was in a subaru. You think your cars the fastest on the road don't you

Did anyone else go to Terminal Velocity back in 2005? The one with the 215mph Viper?

My S4 is around 430BHP and there are a number at 500BHP +....don't assume that the drab old Audi in front of you only has 265BHP or less (MAF failures and boost leaks will knock the figure back considerable).

Nah my P1 pretty much runs out of gearing at about 160mph(private road of course ) where as my mate has seen 185mph on the clock and it's still pulling, I'm sure the RS6 is good for 200mph given enough road.

Thumbs up

Having had a STI UK PPP, a V8 S4 and a 160 BHP westfield, There is very little in it speed wise between the S4 and the STI, the Scoob would be slightly quicker 0-60 and a much more involving drive, the Audi suspension setup is not ideal. For driver involvment and 0-60- the westfield would leave them for dead!! Above 60 the Audi would be quicker than both, no doubt the smooth delivery of torque and 350BHP is fantastic.
There are definitely things I miss about the scoob but am very happy with the A4

well i dont mind admitting a new rs4 out accelerated me yesterday pretty easily ,conditions favoured him as he was on the gas first and roads were wet and i lost momentum spinning wheels in my front driver .................nevertheless it was seriously rapid and he would have easily done me anyway. Its nice to be on a level playing field to see exactly how much quicker things are though ,i raced a tuned old shape s4 some time ago at pod which the owner reckoned was pushing 400 bhp and he did me easily but it wasnt the total slaying i was expecting.
I have run 0-101 in 13.9 seconds at the pod and the rs4 on the road took me apart ,thats got to be a 12 second quarter car as standard,a real beast.
Would i have one ,no, but i can still appreciate its pure grunt.

Would you now like me to tell you what a humble Sti PPP (and an Evo FQ320) did to a F1 car up to 26mph in an Autocar test?? 4WD beats a higher powered 2WD off the line......ooooh!!

Back to the original point

A STD S4 WILL NOT BEAT A CORVETTE Z06. END OF!!

And as for Corvettes not being able to go around corners. Hmmm, if that were true, the Heads up display would not include a G meter. Truth is, they'll generate as much lateral grip through the corners as many european/japanese cars, if not handle with the same finesse as the best over on this side of the pond.

On the subject of handling, Audi's are hardly praised for handling well. They are frequently, almost invariably, criticised for having surplus of grip and traction, but fundamentally poor handling. Much the same criticism is levelled at Scoobies and Evos.

So its the crap handling of the evo/scooby/S3/RS4 that allows them to punch well above their weight, goiing around the nurburgring much quicker than much more powerful cars?

Corvettes are poo. The latest gen Z06 seems good, compared to normal cars, but then people seem to overlook that the Z06 has a crap ride, crap build, crap interior, and is heavy for what it is.

The european equivelant to a latest gen Z06 is a ultima, and a ultima will crap all over one.

That IS NOT a std S4

Are you seriously trying to tell me that a car with a 150bhp tonne deficit and gawd knows how much torque would be able to do that????

Scoobies/Evos and Audis do NOT produce good lap times because of their handling; it's the mechanical grip and traction which is brilliant and allows them to achieve those times. If you want a good handling car, try a MK1 Lotus Elise (which wouldn't see which way a scooby or Evo went point to point) but is more fun to hussle around because you have to drive it and understand the dynamics of the car. My Auntie could get a decent lap time out of an Evo/Scooby/Audi. Don't get me wtrong, there is nothing wrong with the handling of Jap/German 4WD saloons, but its not their USP! Nor is it what allows them to punch above their weight.

For your info a C6 corvette got an 7:53 lap of the ring, some 6 secs faster than a Spec C Scooby. Hardly shabby!

Oh and for further info, regarding a lightly tuned Corvette and the value for money issue:

"After five laps the Lingenfelter Z06 posts a best of 1:22.40. Faster than the optimised 599 GTB (p92), faster than the Lamborghini Gallardo, just a tenth behind the Koenigsegg CCX. And all for £60,000. Incredible" EVO magazine

The Audi would be made to look rather silly at that price point.

Can't really compare a big motor like an Audi to a car like the Corvette.

I'll spend 30k on a car that will poo poo all over a 599 and that corvette.

Oh and never mind that the 599 and gallardo actually have a interior, and a good one at that

All this comment proves is that you don't know the difference between handling and roadholding/grip.

C5 corvette Z06s hold the road better than most other vehicles, yet on race tracks they were sooooooo slowwwwwwwwwwwww. Handling is handling. Audi's handle good, imprezas handle good, and evos handle good.

If you guys only think that those 4wd vehicles have grip and roadholding your sadly mistaken, and anyway, thats all part of handling anyway

Nurby is a reasonable track to compare on, bumps and up & down etc. so not just about how hard the suspension they can make that they would on a flat slick track.
Corvette:
7:42.9 - 160.207 km/h -- Corvette Z06, 500 PS/1319 kg, Jan Magnusen

Fastest Audi I could find:
7:58 --- 156.652 km/h -- Audi RS4 4.2 V8 FSI, 420 PS/ 1650 kg, Frank Stippler

So the corvette could get round, park up and buy a cup of tea before the RS4 could finish it's lap

If you think 7.42.9 round the nurburgring is sooooo slowwwww then more fool you.

Isnt this guy amusing. Hes comparing a lightweight newly designed high power sports car that had its suspension optimized specially for that day, to a hopped up family car, that weighs near one and three quarter tons, with a higher center of gravity, and a chassis dating back to the early mid 90's.

The funny thing is though a 996 GT3 RS has done the ring in 7.41 And that car is 120hp down on the vette. The 997 GT3 RS is meant to be two secs faster than the 996 version round the 'ring.

Audi R8 is about on par with the vette even with 90 less BHP

Just wait till the V12 TDI version is made of the R8. And then theres also the 480hp V10 version

And unlike with the corvette on the germans cars you dont have to worry about your roof, or any other body panels detaching and flying off as you drive your car

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

YOU are the one that said the Corvette was soooo sloowwww round the track.

Anyway, I'm saying no more, I;ll let others make their judgments on what cars are slow or not.
