Audi s4 tried to race me
Just joined main road (dual carriageway), and as I joined thei Audi S4 passed staring at me (good job the guy in front of him didn't stop coz he wasn't watching :D). Anyway I join road, and ended up behind him. I was just sitting there in 6th gear and his car slightly squats and away he goes. I didn't even change down a gear and kept up no problem. Had to back off as I was catching him, wasn't gonna pass otherwise it just gets into silly buggers, keep it pleasant and safe is my motto, I'd only whip his arse and didn't want him to try anything stupid to try and keep up. :D
They're pretty quick (wrx kinda ballpark) but they're not fast and I heard they pi$$ all over corvettes and all. |
Wasn't trying then - I eat WRXs and UK Turbos :) STIs are a bit more of a challenge, but I haven't upped the power yet :D
In all fairness, to get away from the silly banter, it is a big car (2.7 V6 bi-turbo OR it's a V8 4.2 depending on how new it is), but the difference being once it gets going, its alot more of a surprise :) There is a fair bit of weight though. The Scoob tends to run out of puff a bit higher up the speed range (;)), but the S4 will keep on going.... Where the Scoob still wins is the sound track (REALLY miss mine) and the handling is a little bit sharper. I loved my Scoobs however, the S4 is a just a totally different class. Dan :) |
He was trying all right, moving quickly and revving it mad.
Maybe I should mention I don't drive a scoob, normally I'm in the Audi A6 but today, as the weather was fine I took the Westfield out ;) It eats just about anything so not fair on the S4 I guess :D It will surge up to 130 or so then it runs out of gears :D I need a 7th gear to go any faster. :( |
You should try against an Audi RS6, they really go! I put my P1 up against a mates RS6 and can only just beat him now i've upped the power to 350bhp. They're easy to drive though, just select sport mode and mash the peddle to the floor and hang on!

Maybe ;) :D
As I say, I didn't go to pass him, nor did I get close to him, just kept a safe distance, we didn't even break the speed limit. |
Anyway, I'm just glad I wasn't in a Corvette else I'd have my hide whipped ;) :D

It does kind of depend what Corvette/S4/Westfield you're talking about really...... |
But I heard from AudiLover (and he knows ALL about cars :D) and the S4 eats alive Corvettes apparently....

Aha..OK! |
Came accross a S4 2.7 Biturbo a while ago in my STI Type R. On a private track, I must admit he started pulling away from me when we got past 120mph. Either way I was quite surprised at just how quick it was.

Also got a vid of a audi S8 racing Z06 and they are neck and neck :lol1: |

I was giving an RS6 some stick today.
Sod wouldnt move out the way. Why cant people conceed their car isnt as quick as they think? Its like bikers, they just assume nothing can keep up and get in your bloody way. ;) MB |
my bro had an s4 and wrote it off, it went ok but handled relly bad even after he fitted ebach shocks/springs h&r antiroll bars and other bits n bobs.

A Corvette Z06 (05) has a P/W/R has 361bhp tonne. It would be a no contest! The Corvette's only problem might be getting traction off the line. :lol1: If the S4 gives it a close run, it's heavily modified and not a std vs std comparison. Compare a Calloway tuned corvette to a tuned S4 and I know what my money would be on :thumb: A well tuned Audi?Scooby/Evo is not to be underestimated, but a proper muscle car will show them who's the daddy!!!! :thumb: Just seen the vid, bollox is that a std S4!!!! :) |

That doesn't really prove much - was that a standard S4?The one Autocar tested at 14.8 seconds to 100? Current Z06 does 0-100 in about 8.5/9 seconds
Comeon mate do it like for like. |

The most powerful S4 model has a power to weight ration of 203bhp tonne AFAIK

Hell a german tuner made a 220mph audi A4 TDI :lol1: The scenario above involved a long straight Your video involved a long stright. True enough, you can count US cars that handle with any degree of finesse on one hand, but in the straights, there aint no replacement for displacement. Saying that a car will shat on another car with over 150bhp tonne (and god knows how much torque) more is just plain daft. And as for tuned, yeah we can do that: Paul Henesey will sell you a nice Viper Venom with 1000bhp and then its goodbye tuned Audi/Evo/Scooby! Ns04 |

How are you gonna compare a 1998 audi S4 to a 2006 corvette? :lol1: And a propper tuned euro car or japanese car will poo poo n muscle cars in a straight line still. |
a tuned eurocar, or jap car will poo poo on a tuned american car, which is what I said in my other post. I was comparing tuned vs tuned.

How can you make this coment when you dont even know what car he was in. Sounds to me like your one of these people who are talked about on here. The type that think they own the fastest (unbeatable) car on the road, which on this occasion is an Audi S4

Had a little play with the 4.2 V8 S4, and it got to a point where he crossed solid white lines round a bend just to get past!!
