I'm not going to argue about engine breaking all day, i know its benefits and i'm sure given the poo brakes on an impreza would mean an ITR could out-brake it day in day out. Thats one advantage the ITR has in comparison to the many many advantages a scoob has.
You could argue a golf tdi has advantages over both, but weighing up the options i'll stick with my scoob thanks....
If you looked hard enough you could video's on youtube of scoobs beating ferrari's, or even mini's beating M3's etc etc, using youtube as e reference to how quick a car is is even worse than never driving one yourself.
I've spoken to the ITR community about the pro's and con's of owning an ITR over a scoob and what they have told me hasn't convinced me i'd be happier making the change.

Brilliant, instead of admitting you're wrong, you want to stop talking about it.
So come on, why do race drivers use heal and toe? You may aswell learn something!

I'd like to have a go in an ITR to see what they are like and I appreciate it's more than just about sheer speed - however it's always intrigued me how, at one of the big "Best Handling Car" days that Autocar did, an E46 328i managed to do the same time as an ITR. David Leslie ( ex-BTCC ) did all the laps so same driver. Could it have been a tight engine as it was newish? The BM is quite a bit heavier with only a few more bhp.
Anyone know any more details on that test?

I don't know what heal and toe is, but i do know one thing....
While your thrashing the life out of your hairdressers car i'll be increasing the gap, smoking a *** and having a chat to my passengers. I'll have ample room in my boot for anything i care to put in there, i can even go and pick up a few mates on the way.
It'd take a very good driver in an ITR to keep up with an average driver in a scoob. It'd take an amazing driver in an ITR to actually gain or overtake even the most average of scoob owners.
Say to someone who isn't into cars that much that you own an ITR and they'd probably ask you what the **** you were talking about. Tell them you own an impreza and i'm sure the first sentence out of their mouths would include the words quick or fast (possibly even chav).
When you've done agueing m8 i'll have a short back and sides......

Write down a thorough and exagerated list of pro's of ITR ownership IE brakes, handling etc etc and i bet even the dimmest scoob owner could easily come up with more reasons to own a scoob.

So anything that isn't an impreza is a 'hairdressers car'.
If you want to impress your mates, why not get a ***** extension!
Sounds like you have a problem down there anyway!
Got a picture of you now, *** in one hand, mobile in the other, baseball cap, thinking you're gods gift......until you run out of talent and end up in a ditch! 'wasn't my fault, must have been diesel on the road!'
Is this guy for real?

Your own list
Pro's and Con's about driving a scoob....
Pro's
Not many standard cars can keep up not for £3k anyway.
I think it handles like its on rails.
No problem putting the 240BHP down.
Easy access to modifications
At 4k rev's it takes off like its been kicked up the ****.
I personally think they are fantastic looking cars
They turn heads with their burble
There are more Porsches where i live than scoobs
Reliable, not had anything major wrong with mine.
Con's
Everyone assumes your a boy racer
Everyone that pulls up beside you has to try their luck
The term chav seems to stick on scoob owners.
Coil packs playing up every 10k or so
Boot seals leaking
Obviously haddock MPG
Never feeling like you have enough power always wanting more.
Burning smell when you thrash it, as they run rich.
Bens list:
Teg Pros:
-Very responsive throttle and steering
-Well balanced handling
-Decent MPG if you dont hack it
-The looks (if you own a UKDM)
-The seats are the best oem recaros i have sat in
-The noise of VTEC, (hmm compared to a boxer I still prefer the ITR on full chat)
-8600RPM gear changes (or whatever it is(I just listen))
-The relative rarity
Cons
-N\A tuning gets expencive after a while
-MPG during 'spirited' journeys
-Low torque until late in the rev range (1800cc)
-The ariel (POS)
-The noise (can get a bit annoying on long journeys)
-Having to join forums with people who insist that it is an act of sacrilege modifying it.
-If people dont know what it is, they think you have bought a celica\hyundai\calibra and stuck a kit on it.
-The lack of a 6th gear (close ratio box)
Oh, and that burning smell is not because they run rich. It's your rocker cover leaking oil onto the manifold!

Guys, come on simmer down. It's just a car forum on the Internet which on the grand totem pole of life just ain't worth getting worked up over. Just treat it as a bit of harmless fun and agree to differ and leave it at that.

lol how dumb are you pmsl. I quickly made a list, yet your exxagerated list still has less pro's and the same amount of con's. What an absolute ****, you've proven the point for me ha ha ha.
Even you admit there's more to owning a scoob, argument over .
bye.........

Well, if the track was full of chicanes, then I think the teggy would struggle to keep up with the scoob.
Rounds brands, I feel the teg would have the edge due to the long braking zones and sweeping corners.
I also found the impreza (sti) to be less forgiving than the integra and there was also that feeling of what if I lose it here.

The BM was actually the quicker but to all intents it was the same time. David Leslie preferred the Teg - just surprised the 328 got near
