I am totally smitten by these cars too. Makes me think I should have saved 10 grand and bought one instead of my new Civic diesel - no comments please . Does anyone know if 6-speed conversion is possible on the DC2? It suffers from the same affliction as my old ATR in that 5 gears were only just enough to keep it on the boil. Cheers

And one more thing. Any news from Japan on a replacement for the DC5?

They do the Celica M sport with 6 gears - this is the limited edition ITR competitor not the normal run of the mill Celica 190.
Similar engine characteristics to the ITR, LSD, stiffened, lightened shell etc

One for sale here Click

Maybe, but it doesn't have 10% of the Integras pedigee.

My scoob went last night
Why is it that the only time I get to hear what my car sounds like, is when the new owner drives it away?!

Gotta get me a teggy now.

How would you get a good test drive in an older car like this to see what they are like?

You couldn't test a private sellers car and waste his time so do decent 2nd hand places let you have a car for an hour or so? I am thinking of an older car (maybe a Teg) but wouldn't buy one based on people's opinions alone.

Does anyone know of a north west Honda specialist?

Steve

I would agree its a gear short.

Unichip with vtec controller can help.

Steve - just look on autotrader for you nearest dealer one. Or you could go on DC2 and go to a meet.

Steve, get yourself on the itr web site Integra Type R Forum, and start a thread on either General or anything goes. You'll more than likely find one of the lads or lasses on there will live near you and be more than happy to let you have a good look and maybe a test drive in theirs. Although you'll possibly not be able to drive it yourself. Good luck mate, they are grat cars.

I was going to post the same question. Really want to try one, but not in a position to buy yet, and not even sure if I will buy one so dont want to waste a private sellers time.

Bought a 4 month old Civic from our local NW Honda dealer 2 weeks back, but they didn't have any older stuff in or I could have blagged a test drive.

I often get my rev needle to 8900, so it definitely revs that high. Most car makers put the rev limiter at the start of the redline (which kind of defeats the point of having a red line), whereas the integra, and the old prelude I used to have would rev 400rpm past the redline, into the red, before hitting the limiter.

A standard DC2's revlimiter is set around 8600rpm. The rev-counters are usually optimistic which might account for the high numbers you're seeing

I've got one!
Will post pics tomorrow when I have washed and polished her.
All I can say is.....WOW! What a car!
I did a 400mile round trip today to find one as good as this. I'm knackered, but very very happy! And, I got 32mpg on the way back. How, I don't know!

I've heard before how the rev-counters are optimistic. I've also seen stats thta put the official rev-limit at 8700 but I always like to belive the 8900 I see on my rpm gauge.

I will try to find the 'official' stats that say 8700 and edit when I do.

Im just in the process of selling my Teg after putting down a deposit on a Rb5. Both are great cars in their own right. Next on the list is an elise/vx220 came close to getting one this time round, but the mint Rb5 was just too tempting.

It isn't worth bothering with - at the end of the day it's a fantastic engine in a fantastic chassis that makes you want to drive like a touring car racer everytime you get in it

Really miss mine.....keep thinking about an S2K to get an even bigger fix of revs lol
