I thought the same when I read that. When I had my scooby with the TD04 in it I had to change it to a TD05 as I like to really rev a car otherwise it doesn't feel like I am getting the most out of it.

When driving quickly in the integra you have to be in the right gear as below:

1st gear 0-40mph
2nd gear 40-60mph
3rd gear 60-90 mph
4th gear 90+mph

So if you are doing 70 in fifth on the motorway and you want to accelerate quickly you have to drop it into 3rd!

IF you really like the scoob AND it is in good condition AND you can afford to run it and buy the best stuff for it, then I say you should keep it.

Its not that i don't 'like' revving the engine, I just don't take it to red line on every journey. I still end up at my destination thinking, 'Jesus, that car is quick'.

I love how fast it goes through the gears......feels like i'm hanging on for dear life sometimes!

Well, I've made the decision, and 'old faithfull' will have a new owner tomorrow night.
I've been uming and areing about doing this for a few months now, then I got fed-up with myself and thought, just bl**dy do it!

Going to see this little baby on sunday.
Honda : UK CW Integra Type R.

They are stunning cars and I want to own an Integra before all the good ones start to disappear. There were only 1900 UK DC2 Integras ever made!

Like somebody on this thread has already said, if you're complete and utter petrol-head, there are some cars that you must own at some point in your life.

yes good choice mate i owned a dc2 R before the scooby and it is the only car i have ever wanted back after selling it, just loves to rev and very rewarding if you master driving it. and has great lift off oversteer, good fun but keep it nailed and it will pull you round bends. but can be drivin normally too.

but does suffer from low down torque but in the vtec its fine, that was the whole idea of vtec to be eco below the crossover point.

but with just an ehaust just cat bac mine was makin 212 bhp and 141 ft on the rollers.

here,s a few pic's

nice choice mate, the only thing i would say is that the jdm one looks a hell of a lot better given the square headlights on it.

as for folk saying that it is gutless and hard to live with etc,i dont see how?my brother has one and i have driven it a bit and been a passenger alot and have never seen how any of this could be a problem.

it might feel gutless compared to a turbo car(granted i have never driven an impreza or the likes) but it is still eager enough to want to go during every day driving and when you want to go fast all you have to do its move it down one more gear.not so difficult is it?the ride is a little harsh but so is any other 'performance car' arent they?its certainly not noisy, the punto he had before was terrible compared to the integra.

worst thing about it imo is that my brothers has a mugen twinloop on it which is far, far too quiet.buddy club spec 3 is on the way though if you fancy a twinloop chrispurvis100

Chris, one more thought. DC2 prices are kind of stable, good ones hold their money very well and I think things will actually get better in the next few years as there will less good ones around.

Why not get the DC2 and run it for a year and if you don't like it you should be able to get good money back for it if you look after it and then you can buy back into the Scooby fraternity where prices aren't so good and it's more of a buyer's market. You say you have been offered a good price for your Scoob so why not go for it?

Chris, you been on the DC2 forum and Pistonheads?

I had one for a short period and it was such a bloody good car, a true Type R rather than this new Civic nonsense. I did find it a bit too raw sometimes, doing 50 miles per day. Same fuel economy as the scoob I found.

Drop me a PM if you are going to mod it. I went in a mildly tuned ITR and it was extremely quick and handled better than my STi in the dry!

Here's an ad for one of Toyota's own ITRs as mentioned earlier in the thread. Not to be confused with the normal Celica 190 or theTRD badged ones later.

This is the stripped out lightened one with LSD and stiffened lightened shell

Also an article on them Click

Diablo reckons the Teg drives "much better" but it would be worth bearing it in mind perhaps

You can get loads of info off Integra Type R Forum but do a search because if you dont then you will get flamed for it.

The best mods for the car are the most expensive mods. Standard induction is considered second best to the Mugen airbox + filter which sets you back £350 or so. Best exhausts are the Mugen Twin loop and the HKS silent (unless you want a lot of noise) and these cost £450+.

Basically it is a great car as standard in every way so it takes a lot of money to make it better.

I agree about the looks of the JDM car, I think it looks loads better and is even rarer. I get waves and flashes of all sorts of people in mine, not just ITR drivers but honda s2000/civic drivers and even random jap performance cars - it really is recognised as a special car!

The JDM cars also have slightly more agressive cams and mapping to give a few more HP.

The early JDM cars (pre Sept 1997) have 4 stud wheels, smaller front discs and calipers, and also weigh less. The later (sept 97>) JDM cars have the same brakes as the UK car but have much better exhaust system (especially the headers), and they have HID headlights and slightly different gearing with closer ratios between 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
The smaller brakes on the early JDM are ok as standard but I got some AP Lockheed discs and carbon pads (and kept the standard calipers) and I now find the stopping power LOADS better than my early classic with 4-pots and EBC redstuff cramic + grooved discs etc. Those discs and pads cost £400 just for the front BTW.

There are modified examples out there with no turbo or supercharger that produce 240BHP but that is serious money.

All this talk of spending money but to be honest, you dont need to, and I find it a lot cheaper on the shell juice, insurance and general running costs than my scoob.

Mines still standard, and I've owned it for three years nearly now. Just drive it, get to know the handling and start pushing yourself. Awesomely fun cars to throw down a good B road imo. It only takes one good drive in one to get you hooked imo.

I don't think the integra would be a wise move. i feel you will be bored of driving it after a month as it only offers its potential when driving at full pelt as opposed to the low down effortless pull of the subaru you have now. when i had my civic i felt like a bit of a fool sometimes having to gun the **** off it when trying to pass joe public in his mondeo 2.0 glx.also the integra has 2 kind of exhaust notes..a muted standard one..or a mega loud aftermarket one that IMHO is going to **** you off after a week if you dont like serious boy racer scowls from pedestrians.

i want to point your attention to these 2 videos. now i know the comparison is pure straightline and pull off performance and the integras trump card is its chassis and handling..but look at the gap between the mr2 turbo and the integra..then look at the gap between the scooby and the mr2. could you live with that drop in performance?

You do have a point, I felt the same having to thrash it just to go at a normal pace. The S2000 never felt like this, just seem to have a lot more low down torque.

You could get one and stick a blower on it. Jackson Racing or similar - that would be extremely fast

Turbo ones are ridiculous.

On fast A roads and track use I've not seen many Scoobs that are much quicker than the DC2 tbh, comparing the straightline performance is missing the point by a huuuge margin.

Its a completely different car, if you aren't prepared to work at it you'll hate it, simple as that.

Scoobs benefit by 4 wheel drive on sprints. Circuit driving is a different thing

have a look at this DC-2 whipping the *** of an Sti on the track

YouTube - circuit battle vtec eg6 ek9 s14 etc TIサーã‚Â*ットムトル シビック

and here is one in which the scoob beats the imtegra:

some good views here, and some very poor views to be honest, my last 4 cars consist of

s1 elise
uk integra r
s1 190 exige
and now this:

jdm type r-x

dont under estimate them, my old uk car just about kept up with my mates scoob wrx pp, but absolutely nailed him on brakes and bends, to be honest my old uk teg was a bit boring, this time the import is a different league, cant fault it, not bored at all, such a step forward from the uk models, its running coilovers and edfc, goes round bends like you wouldnt believe and front drive could! altho pants in wet with the coilovers

Dont hesitate to get one mate! you wont regret it!

My mate now has an sti8 running a proven 325bhp, we had a little blast in 3rd and 4th and there was nothin in it! no messin, i do love scoob, but love tegs to. Great car, and can pik some uk models up for a nice price now.

The first one I went out in, obviously wasn't running right. I knew that when I jumped in another one last week!
Bodywork was tatty, but it gave me a chance to get a feel for the 190bhp VTEC engine. It just keeps on revving!
All in all, I was very impressed. It felt more 'pin-sharp' than the impreza.

I forget all this when I get in the scoob. Apart from a bit of 'piston-slap' when cold, there is nothing wrong with it. Its boosting at 17psi and since I carried out the last service, it feels like a new car! (What a difference castrol syntrax can make!)

I am not interested in mega power, just a car that makes you feel 18 again, everytime you drive it. I have always loved the integra, and now I have my chance to buy a minter for 7K.

Basically... what should I do???
Will I be dissappointed?
Go for it bro, sounds like ur pretty psyched about it and what the hell, Carpe Diem!

I sold my impreza 18 months ago, ukmy98. Now drive a 1997 96 spec ITR. Ok, so it isn't as fast in a straight line as the scooby, although mine isn't far behind and all i've done is full exhaust including manifold and cat replacement pipe, AEM induction kit and a bloody good service. I find it loads more fun to drive than the Scoob. Although I do miss the sweet flat four and turbo rush, VTEC is nice though and scares pedestrians if you get it right. As has been mentioned before, prices are rock solid, if you don't like it after 6 months then sell it.

Noobscoob-There's a huge difference between the ITR and a Civic, and the change in the exhaust note is VTEC, that's the fun bit
