Like lambs to he slaughter....
lets be honest the only thing I miss about my scoob are :
A:the noise
B:the bonnet scoop
Would I buy another.....YES but not a spec c - purely because of the noise..but thats MY choice.

Somebody recently point out to me that Subaru is still using the same basic engine from 1992 or was that 1996
Back to the original thread-sell your current scooby and buy a RS4

Mike didn't put in a appearance
but from my discussions with Subaru it was originally planned as 340 BHP but it was felt it would be "faster" with an improved suspension set up

Unless your doing 15 laps on a track with equally gifted drivers you'll never notice!!
But from a mental sales point 340 is better than 320 to the man on the street, and is a step BEYOND the best so far.

We all know the WR1 is easily good for a RELIABLE 350/330 as thats what MOST are now running with a re-map and a few basic mods...WHY do they just not do BOTH options on the R320 bearing in mind what it is commemorating??? I bet they would of sold alot quicker if they upped the anty just a little to the 340 mark, but then again how noticable is the difference between 320 and 340???

Im sure the RB320 in standard guise is "as far" as they can "safely" go!!
OR SO WE WILL BE LED TO BELEIVE!!!!
In all honesty if I knew what I knew now when I bought the WR1 I would of bought a second hand jap Spec 2 yr old motor - circa 12-15k spent 7-8k on mods and been pootling around in a 400+ car for less than 30k!!!!
But hey hindsight is a wonderful thing!!
And the RB320 Im sure is gonna be a fantastic car-the best so far- but is it GOOD enough?

And me I found it handled very well not as hard a ride as my T20 ith AST's but would suit the Carp UK roads great
The Torque wa fairly high for UK but didn't feel it's performance was equal to the T20
Brakes were a fair cooked but would be the same for any Sti with Brembo's doing the same amount of Duty.
I personal felt it was the best UK newage package to date and certainly the only UK car I would envisage buying myself 3
I also reckon that due to only 320 and the base spec, depreciation won't be so bad as a STD Uk Car
IMHO

I know you've said you don't want to hear 'Spec C this and that' but I'm just curious as to how you can say that a WR1 was awesome and yet the Spec C was ****e. Spec C was designed from the start to be a 'drivers' car. It is the starting for GrpN and is the better car, no doubt about it.
I can understand you point of view as regards the warraty aspect, but many dealers now offer a warranty on JDM models. Personally, I can'[t why anyone would buy a 'watered down' UK model, but that's just me. And maybe I'm being bias as I have JDM, a very special one at that too . I cancelled my order for a UK MY06 to get it, a lost my deposit in the process. Does it bother me? No. As I now own a car that no UK would stand up to

Right firstly this thread is a serious one so having it hijacked about Phil's numberplate etc etc is not what I wanted. So please start up another thread because frankly that issue bores me.
Re: my spec c comment. What is so special ... tell me. I have driven one and gone head to head with one when my WR1 was standard. The wr1 looked better, was faster and generally was a better car. Furthermore when I broke the WR1 it was fixed without question by Subaru ... not a tuning shop who offer warranties. As I mentioned I want a UK based brand new car with a UK Subaru authorised warranty.
Whenever I meet someone who owns a spec c they are up themselves and full of the car being the best car ever to grace the planet. Take the ESC for example. somebody there has even plastered their car with massive Spec C stickers just to ram home the point that he drives one. BORING!!
My reasons are as per above. I have driven one, raced against one and spent a day running one. All of which turned me off of wanting one. That's not to mention the lack of warranty, residual value etc etc etc.
Cheers for comments though guys. For once one of my threads has not been hijacked by *****.
