What planet are you on!!!! They would never do it, They are trying to tax gas guzzlers out of existance by claiming enviromental causes so why would they play into the hands of Mr Lambo man and Mr 4.8 X5 man!

Nice friendly reply there mate!
When this proposed legislation was announced, it was said to be a replacement for fuel tax, the objectives were all about reducing congestion.
Now I dont believe for a second that it will actually do anything for congestion in reality, but I'm just telling what the proposed initiative was about.

My point was it's not going to be as black and white as you make out, some people will do better out of this scheme.

So in answer to your question EARTH

Because the 'all mighty' that run this country always tell the truth don't they

So you seriously think that in this PC country that they are going to let a gas guzzler pay the same amount of tax as miss granny smith in her 1000cc corsa to travel down the same mile strip of tarmac! Not a chance! Thats what all this green crap is about, Its just fashionable to be environmentaly friendly or just another excuse to tax us more, but this time if its for the environment we will think that its ok.

They will always tax fuel!

You obviously didn't read what I posted.

In my opinion there will still have to be an element of fuel duty (even though as I said the original proposal spoke of this scheme replacing it), for sure otherwise everyone will rush out and buy 4x4's. But as I said there will be winners and losers.

Winners non peak road users
Losers 4x4 drivers at in rush hours on motorways

....and alot in between

Oh and BTW if we dont like 'the all mighty' we vote them out.
