If you could stretch to £35k you should be able to get a 996 GT3 Mk1

I don't think you will find a Lotus to be unreliable? My S2 Elise has been no problems in the year I have owned it. It's a million miles away from the CSL though. Infact I am looking at selling it and one of the cars on my list is the M3 or CSL.
