£30k to spend

I've had my Integra Type R (DC5) now for 2 years which is the longest I've ever kept a car, had plenty of fun tuning it and it drives really well for fwd, I love the rawness.

However after 2 years I fancy a change, I'm after something for weekend and summer use and will also go back to an oil burner for daily commute.

I love the light weight philosophy hence the Integra, Skylines hold no appeal to me, so that should give yout knowledgable guys some info on what I like.

Budget is £30k (ish) max

THe only car I'm hankering after is an M3 CSL, anything else which competes with this for the price?

Porsche 964 RS

Edcase 02 January 2007 10:26 PM

Agreed, although prices seem to have stabilised and in some case, risen. Not sure what you'd get for 30k?

Don't want anything Jap (apart from maybe an NSX) nothing LHD, nothing too old and something reliable so no Lotus, not into the Fords/Noble, like a bit of class..

The CSL is the only car ticking all the boxes, much better than a 996 C2.

Tidgy 02 January 2007 11:18 PM

not sure if this fits into the leight weight but what about the manaro vxr?

Blueblaster 03 January 2007 06:43 AM

Essentially you're stuffed, mate. Your problem seems to be more and more common these days. I was in the same position a year ago and just gave up in the end. You want something that is fund to drive, good to look at, reasonably practical with a good image. Nothing exists. The CSL is probably as close as you will get - I was going down that road too.

With the new M3 lurking on the horizon you face the possibility of a big residual value hit on the CSL in the near future. Therefore the cost of changing and seeing how you get on with the CSL could be quite high. The CSL is also a lot faster than your Integra so you won't be able to take it to the limit in the same way that you enjoy now. You also seem to like to have some fun with mods which would be very expensive and hurt the residual value even further. My suggestion would be a Z3M Coupe. Get a really good one for £20k. New wheels, quality seats and stereo and you'll have yourself a car that is great to drive and still worth something when you come to sell it. That is what I was going to do anyway.:)

davyboy 03 January 2007 06:53 AM

However fast that car is, it looks to have been to the same accessories shop as many corsa and saxo owners visit. It has as much credibility too!

Nice steering wheel :lol1:

Tasteful graphics :lol1:

2 Rev counters :lol1:

Wires hanging out of dash :lol1:

Joke

I don't think the CSL will get too much of a hit when the new M3 comes out, the Z3M coupe is quite lairy and a bit of a beast to control by all accounts, nice car but I want something newer and a bit more special. Looks as if it might well be a CSL.

AudiLover 03 January 2007 07:24 PM

csl wont get a hit. It will most likely be a more desirable car than any new M3 to follow for a couple generations.

Nürburg_Ringa 03 January 2007 07:38 PM

CSL is very tram liney and pulley on badly mainted UK B roads.

Sorry for my poor english.
