They are both great fun, and we should be pleased that there are a variety of models of each to choose from. They are all a compromise in various different ways like any car.

The best model is the one the poster owns at present especially if you are Tony Burns.

I absolutely destroyed an FQ320 in my last Scooby as well as a 440 BHP tuned Evo 7 when the Scooby only had 360 BHP but lots of torque. However, when purchasing a nearly new/new model this time I chose an Evo because I wanted a reliable c.400 BHP package that would be very cheap and easy to do - I've thrown money at a heavily modded car before and it is silly and makes it difficult to shfit on later. The MY06 STI was a candidate with a turbo swap in addition to the Evo mods, but it arguably should have had the pistons changed to be reliable which I didn't want to do on my road car - again expense and potential issues having been there before otherwise there was very little to split them for me - Evo's sharper steering and tiptoes rear biased AYC feel vs Impreza's better interior and service intervals. Evo's better engine vs Impreza's sound. I couldn't find a JDM Scooby to try anywhere local and even then the turbo would have needed to have been upgraded to reach my goals.

If buying another Scooby new, my present choice would be to find a Euro import 2.5 WRX for £15k, keep the torque to about PPP levels to look after the gearbox but upgrade the turbo to a 20G to get some top end out of it (along with intercooler, Walbro, exhaust), change the discs and pads. It wouldn't be the fastest, best at braking or cornering, but it would be a hell of an all rounder for very little money.

well i found with my evo that the thing was just a money cow, on the other hand my scooby is less of a money cow, plus after high boost my evo decided to pack in with a crank explosion. Then it after pricing things up it would cost 4k plus for a engine rebuild, do i need to say more

I do have to laugh at you Bones I know what you are all about I really thought you were a serious car enthuiast but just realise you are a wounded soul trying to take his anger out on SN lol. Why not just go to MLR and stay there if you are so content loler. Or rid yourself of this torment and get back in a Scooby. You know the daily drive of the Mitsu is pants compared it just wears you out in comparison.

You seem to ignore the fact that a lot of us have owned Evo's and 'prefer' Impreza yet you go on about we will get there. Don't you listen?? There is no we'll get there in the end? The real threat to Impreza ownership is the Evo X as it now has a good service interval (lead to believe), better looks, drive will be better they claim, etc.

Don't forget before you reply read my first sentence 'Please'

Interim service costs bugger all - when you're running cars like EVO's and Scoobs running costs are just an accepted bad point

MB
Bugger all? I used to get mine done at Extreme auto's in Dudley and for the service intervals of say 20k (2 for Impreza) was nearly 5 for the Evo (4,500) that is a serious difference in my opnion. I would pay nearly £600 more on the basic service cost (never mind any replacements).

You maybe 20, you may be 40 but you will get there in end.
Bones this is where I got my Evo from Welcome to Xtreme Automobiles probably the largest and well known Evo dealer in UK. Every so often I get my wife's car (Auto Evo) serviced there and have tried out many an Evo. I'm still on the invite list to many of the events they have (now launching some new 2 door) super car next year. So unless your 'Mitsu owning you experience' has left you blind I have tried the cake, eat it and liked the Subaru taste better. Full stop, the end. My car isn't even the Spec C it's a UK STi with 355bhp 320 torque(remapped of course ), AP racing brakes, stage 2 handling mods and I terrorise FQ's in shropshire. So much that they say they respect the car openly. Now maybe you got owned but the only Evo that will get me good and proper is the FQ400 and at maybe £12k plus more in cost I to it. I have yet to meet an equal power (say FQ340) that would do anything to me. That is the moral of the story "If an Evo and Impreza have similar dyn'd torque and bhp" there will be not much in it and thats when just a choice kicks in.

Bones you had a bad experience (Is that why you drink to get to sleep <--- Just guessing ) live with it.

Drink to get to sleep? Lol. Use your brain, why do you think people would be drinking or have been around this period.

Why do you keep repeating the same thing? I have answered already about that silly Japense race. I won't be doing it again. Ferrari, Williams, Mclaren and renault in regard to F1 races, Can you tell me if they have ever been beaten by less cars or teams on circuits? Exactly. So this proves what? **** all. Stop nipping over to Japan or the mod shop every time you feel anothe beating coming on. This is not need for speed, chap.

Go on google an do Impreza vs Evo and see what the outcome is. You have the car Evo owners look down out, fact and if you weren't so stuborn you would admit this too. I couldn't care what you have wasted on it. Does it have gold wheels? When you come to sell it look foward to testing your patience out. I even bet that at some point you have woken up in a sweat after dreaming about an Evo.

Haven't you got some demon tweeks catalogues or max powers to be flicking through?

So many mods, so little time.

Bone how old are you?

Most of your posts seem to be based upon road racing, this strikes me as pretty stupid. People as irresponsible and childish as you shouldn't be allowed to own quick cars.

Out of interest, if scobby's are such terrible cars and Evo's so great, then why do Imprezas outsell them 4 to 1?

Now **** off back under whichever rock you crawled out of

loler I'm just surprised he doesn't stay on the MLR forum . He cannot argue well. He goes on about something he thinks I'm imagining I tell him I've owned an Evo, etc seen the video's (but he's says it's pointless because the Impreza slapped the Evo) what about the Tuner GP erm I think an Impreza slapped the many Evo's in there too , the Evo's I slap on my UK car, etc but he just won't listen. He is really pointless. Maybe we should stop responding to him and only talk to other informed enthuiasts (it will hurt him just like he's hurting from his Evo bashing just so funny that is. He got beat so he goes and buys the car what a baby. Suppose you get beat by a ferrari). Can tell the 'type' he is.

PMSL was that my spec'C' that you ripped???????

And the EVO that went past me on the tunnel run??? FQ400?

the Ford fiesta range is one the biggest selling of all time isn't it? So whats you're point. Westlife outsell many bands that actually right their own music and play instruments, SO AGAIN whats you're point?

Sales means nothing. Just that the Impreza is for pesants or fools, which are you?

Is '"loler" just about all your vocabulary is armed with? Its either that o mentioning that video every ten seconds. Do you have tourettes by any chance, if not change the record.

My suggestion is that you stick to the cars CLOSER to the imprezas that are on the top gear board and then you might stop getting aroused over evo drivers. Maybe one day, Reno, one day.

I think this will be the last post i make in direct communication with you, Reno but lets be honest, you're not qualified to speak to me, you are beneath me with what you drive.

Why don't you go on MLR an tell them that Imprezas are overall faster in all situations, i'm sure you will get all you need to squirt. Sad little individual, get yourself a blow up doll or something, or is that sheep?

Yes I'm a 'peasant fool' in my Type 25, out of interest how many Evo's are better than mine (I only ask as you seem to be an authority on the subject).

You are confirming my suspicions, you really are a child. I'm not entirely sure of what you mean when you say 'sales mean nothing', I suspect they mean quite alot to Subaru and Mitsubishi.

As for the Ford Fiesta/Westlife thing, well thats a facile arguement (surely even a retard like yourself can see that) people aren't choosing between a Ford Fiesta and an Evo, they are choosing between a Subaru and an Evo.

You didn't tell me your age

And they are choosing it because its cheaper, cheaper to run and insure an Sti or whatever thats why. Also the 10k service as oppossed to 4.5k. As i said there may be some on here who can afford either and go for the Impreza but they are in minority. Most get it because they are already stretching to get the impreza but really would love an Evo.

The point about westlife and fiestas was that just because things sell that does not make it great, which kind of eliminates your point. Selling more does not mean its better.

Isn't this a Spec C on this Video?

Well I drive an Evo 6 and absolutely love it, but absolutely love P1's and Type-R's... don't have any experience of the newer Evos or Scoobs but love the WR1

Think at the end of the day, Evo or Scoob we all drive something that many many drivers would give their right arm to own !

Why does it matter what the outcome is? Everyone has their own opinions of both brands, just leave it there.

The arguments are becoming more wearisome and facile. Bone is entitled to have a 'bone' over his beloved Evo however some of us don't share that view. Yes we have tried the Evo in it's all singing all dancing 400+bhp form and decided the Impreza was a better ALL ROUND car.

I can afford the servicing schedule of an Evo yet still chose the Impreza, albeit a very special Impreza at that

It will get serviced every 5,000 miles at PS, so the costs can be slightly comparable to running an Evo.

As I've said previously though, driving the Evo flat out really didn't fill me with confidence. The AYC made the rear end feel very twitchy IMO and I just couldn't drive it with any conviction. Felt like I was riding a Kangaroo at one point

But as has been said, each to their own.

Bullitt am trying too move the conversation on just don't respond to childish comments and we can move on.

Question, anyone seen that new car the Xtreme team in Dudley are developing? Seems like a P2 rival.
